UNDERSTANDING HUMAN DUALITY

The psychological concept of DUALITY explains that we all have good and bad sides to us. We are capable of contradictions and multiple manifestations. A good man can do bad things and a bad man can do good things. Image
Gaddafi was a dictator but led a more peaceful & prosperous Libya than we have today. Hitler had enough good in him to convince over 80% of Germans to vote for him in a democratic election. Saddam was an oppressive leader but he hated Islamic Extremism so much...
...that no Islamic Terrorism was present in Iraq until he was overthrown by the Americans. Duality is the antithesis to the narrative of a single story that someone is All Good or All Bad. We are capable of both. It is naive to think of someone only from one perspectives.
Most of the mafia bosses and famous criminals were known to be great fathers and caring husbands. It should not be a problem for you to envisage a person doing great and good in one area and equally doing bad in another.
Even you reading this; if you look back at your own life, you will see the good as well as bad things you have done. How will you feel if ALL of you is defined by only your Bad deeds. Truth however is that when we do good few people remember. And when we do bad, few people forget
It takes maturity to have a balanced view of life. But this is necessary if we are to get the best out of people. A good & honest man can be a terrible driver. A loving and caring mum can be a terrible manager at work. A leader can excel in one policy area and mess up in another.
We must be careful of the danger of a single story. Duality defines all of us. Without it, you are looking for perfection in humans which cannot be found. My hope is that your good deeds will far outweigh your bad.
Understanding Duality allows us not to throw away the baby with the bath water. It enables us to focus on what matters without the distractions of human weaknesses or bad impulses. This allows us to praise and criticise the same person at the same time.
Understanding Duality demands maturity and a level of pragmatism many lack in their youthful exuberance.
Learning how to embrace and balance the contradictions in life is an essential skill worth acquiring.
Wishful thinking does not change the fact of human complexity as we strive to do better by being better. We are all work in progress.

A sign of a lawful Parody is for folks to know easily that it’s a Parody. Misleading or Deceptive conduct or Passing Off & Misinformation is not Parody. If u are a parody, u don’t use exact logo or image of Original without a twist that cleverly shows it’s parody. Let’s be guided
Copying the original fully and sticking the word parody inconspicuously at the end is not a fair parody. Well planned parody play on words to make it glaring what is being copied but also that it is a parody. Misinformation & damaging mischief does not qualify as parody.
E.g, Parody of NEMA could call itself N3MA or NEMA-PARODY. But to use the official name, logo & full official descriptions, (but with “parody “ stuck to d end of it) can be misleading; especially when d messaging is made to sound official & not exaggerated or comical as expected

ON TWITTER BAN OF TRUMP
I disagree with Twitter’s ban on Trump. While I am not in support of many of his politics & diatribes but a ban is unwise & dangerous.
Voltaire once said; “I might disagree with your opinion, but I am willing to give my life for your right to express it”
The caveats and warnings put under some of his tweets by Twitter was sufficient to highlight the non-mainstream nature of many of his views. But banning Trump is dangerous is a democracy. Crazy, unconventional and marginal views are part of democracy.
The first scientists to declare the world was not Flat (as believed by most at the time) were ridiculed by the mainstream. But later; they were found to be right. What if that view was banned. Incitement can be criminally prosecuted in most countries; so that is easy to deal with

SOME PROVISIONS FROM THE NEW POLICE ACT THAT NIGERIANS SHOULD BE AWARE OF.

The Nigeria Police Force (Establishment) Act 2020 was signed into law by President Buhari in September 2020 as a replacement for the antiquated 1943 Legislation we have been using since Independence. Image
While the Act contain many provisions that relates to the operations of the Police; there are a few interesting clauses in the Act that should be of special interest to Nigerians. This Thread simply highlights very few of the many provisions.
1.THE IGP MUST MAKE PROVISION FOR THE MENTAL & PSYCHOLOGICAL WELLBEING OF OFFICERS. Mental health is a big problem in Nigeria as a whole; but Section 9(e) of the Act makes it mandatory for the IGP to make sure the mental & psychological needs of police officers are catered for.

#ENDSARS IS A SYMPTOM NOT THE PROBLEM
Rooting out abuse and brutality in the police tactical squads

The various allegations of brutality and extortion against the SARS squad of the police is symptomatic of a wider problem with the entire NPF personnel as a whole. Image
Scrapping SARS will not stop the menace as it is merely a fruit of a poisonous tree. All other fruits will be equally poisonous. A more fundamental reform of the police paradigm is needed.
What many Nigerians do not know is the extent of the corruption economy within the police.
The entire force is a cesspit of intertwined corruption-provoking practices and operational culture. Allow me to give some examples.

In the past, it was common to see DPOs frequently levied by some CPs to find Money to host visits of IGPs. Not sure if this still goes on.

CBN’s NEW GSI POLICY DANGERS & RECOMMENDATIONS.

From 01 August 2020, CBN gave effect to a new policy that will have major ramification for banking services in Nigeria. The new Global Standing Instruction (GSI) policy provide that at the point of executing loan agreements... Image
...borrowers must also execute a GSI mandate in favour of the participating financial institution (PFI). Should a borrower default in paying a loan, the lending bank can now activate the GSI, give it right to withdraw from the borrowers account held in any other bank in Nigeria.
The lending bank can do this without any recourse to d borrower or giving any notice whatsoever. The aim of d CBN is to help reduce incidents of Bad Loans in Nigeria. While I welcome the intention of the Apex bank to deal with epidemic of unpaid loans, I do have many concerns...

Every Pandemic has elements of unknowns. D challenge with Covid is some folks have tried to say with certainty what was yet an unknown. So science is now beginning to get a bad name as WHO shifts some of its earlier positions. The caveats that has been missing is problematic.
The 1918 Pandemic Virus was not fully discovered until 1933. So scientists were dealing with lots of unknowns during the pandemic in 1918-1920. What is happening now is Scientists have not been transparent enough to put caveats around guidance & honestly say they were not sure.
I think the problem or mistake that was made from the start is WHO and scientists made it look as though they knew enough about Covid to inform specific policies when in fact there were lots of Unknown unknowns. And their actions were out of caution which is understandable.
