Body language is the most overlooked factor in success

——> And it’s 100% in YOUR control

How To Be Confident and Influence People

/// Thread 💵💵💵
I’m going to be direct.

How you “look” matters for success

No one wants to do business with someone who carries themselves like an insecure loser

But here’s what people don’t realize...
A lot of how you look is under your control:

-Everyone can be fit
-Everyone can eat well to improve their hair and complexion
-Everyone can have good body language
In fact, body language is the thing MOST within your control

So here’s how you carry yourself like a rockstar...
1:

Posture Basics

Your posture and the strength of spine convey your power.

This is why we say someone has (or doesn’t have) a backbone.

Your spine should be straight and strong.
👉Keep your weight balanced over both feet.

👉 Tilting to one side makes you look much less confident.

👉 If you need to strengthen your back, lift weights or do Egoscue.
2:

Solid core, free head

Move your head freely while keeping your body strong and the spine straight.

👉Moving the head and body together is low status.

👉Point your noise at the person you’re talking to.

👉Don’t move just your eyes, you’ll look untrustworthy.
3:

Own the space around you

👉You are not in a cage!

👉Move comfortably within your personal space

👉Your arms and head should be relaxed and move freely
4:

Voice

Your voice matters.

It’s why we say someone “has a voice in the matter.”
👉Your volume should be controlled, and louder than you think.

👉Most people are too quiet!

👉Volume means confidence.
Your pacing should be calm and assured.

Slow down...

If I’m speaking slow, it signals that I have the status to take up your time.
Does this mean you have to draw out every word?

No! There’s a better solution: Pause.

Pausing is a persuasive tool.

Plus you come across as smarter and better prepared.
5:

Gesturing

Gesturing improves recall and receptivity of your audience.

As soon as you start speaking, bring your hands into the action.
👉Your gestures should be relaxed

👉Don’t go nuts. You don’t want to be the village drunk in a business setting.

👉10 inches or less in front of your abdomen is your sweet spot.

👉 Loosen up your elbows. You’re not trying to T-Rex this shxt.
6:

Avoid amateur mistakes

Good body language and communication is as much about what NOT to do

Here are the main things to avoid....
👉Avoid fillers like “umm” and “like”

👉Just pause and let the 1/2 second silence wash over you.

👉Don’t sway or rock from side to side.

👉Don’t fidget or jiggle, and never ever Twirl ANYTHING.
Summary:

Ultimately you want to be both confident and inviting

Confident means you...

- Own your personal space
- Let your voice fill the air
- Maintain strong eye contact
- Stand with even balance
Inviting means you...

- Are expressive with your gestures, face, and voice
- Engage your audience and invite them to interact
That’s all!
