John Lewis is an American hero. He should absolutely be celebrated. But it’s just not defensible to tell other Americans losing family members that they have to prioritize fighting Covid to properly mourning while making exceptions for certain protests, specific funerals etc.
My family had a funeral rather recently. We couldn’t have anything indoors and were restricted to a small number at the burial. Millions of Americans have made unimaginable sacrifices and it’s infuriating watching exceptions be made/justified for certain people and views.
Any idea how many people have been cruelly forced to die without relatives by their side? How many people couldn’t even say goodbye to their loved ones? You can’t demand those sacrifices from Americans while cheering on massive street parties and exceptions for others.
