THREAD:
The only #Peshmerga commander Qadir Khorani [a PUK] who didn't abandon Yazidis & fought against ISIS uncovered for the first time that he has been "investigated several times for not carrying the command to leave #Sinjar." facebook.com/10000295622483…
Will translate bits 👇
"I informed high rank officials that [Peshmerga] forces have started retreating. They said they would respond me in 10 mins. They called me in 30 mins. They ordered to withdraw my forces. I rejected, telling them how can I retreat whereas ISIS is advancing & ppl r coming to us."
"They said 'we r commanding you to retreat.' I said women & children & civilians r on way, I'll never leave them alone w/o fighting. I am responsible in front of the people and God. They contacted me back in 10 mins, once again commanded me to carry out the command to retreat.
"They told me it is a command & I should carry it out.. I told them I am ready to carry out any commands to defend the pple & to advance, but I will never retreat w/o defense, & I will not carry out command of any on this regard. I will not consider any as my senior.
"I told them I will not leave neither a Kurdish child nor a yard of the Kurdistan land to ISIS w/o fighting. I asked my deputy [a KDP commander] if they retreat. They retreated & they left me alone."
"I've been investigated several times for not abandoning the Yazidis.
"I've been told I should have carried out the command of my seniors. I've told them my stay has saved lives of thousands of Yazidis. They've told me it was not a problm as thousands of Yazidis had been killed, not a problem if those thousands had also been killed.
"One of the officials had said 'I'd execute Qadir Khorani if I had enough power.' Right now, that official is an official and I am unofficial. Who should be executed, me or him?
Will @UNITAD_Iraq investigate this crime as well?
