The KRG leadership, more particularly the KDP leaders, thought that int'l oil cos like Exxon would always protect the KRG oil industry from #Iraq's pressures; however, KRG's oil reserves were not promising & KRG provided #Turkey & #Russia w/ best deals. That changed the dynamics. When Iraq was weak & the KRG was somehow strong politically, the KRG bypassed constitution. Now that KRG is weak & Baghdad is strong, Baghdad is retaliating. The KRG tried separation then & Baghdad showing ambitions for centralisation. Both are doomed to failure.
