Though Anand Patwardhan's @anandverite "Ram Ke Nam" points to a depressing reality, there are some scenes which reassure one's faith in human goodness. Many ordinary villagers & devotees were opposed to mosque demolition and understood the communal agenda.Sharing some of them.
A villager near Ayodhya says Hindu-Muslims have been praying together and it should be continued.
Why to demolish the mosque for Hindus to pray, he asks.
Another Hindu devotee.
"Once it exists, it's wrong to break it".
Another Hindu devotee of Ayodhaya says there was no trouble in Ayodhya before the Ram Janmabhumi issue.
He asks, how to say that Lord Ram was born at that very place of mosque.
Pujari Laldas, the Court appointed priest at the temple at the disputed site, did not suport the VHP movement.
He says that the movement was aimed at gaining political benefits.
He says that Muslim rulers granted land and funds for some temples at Ayodhya.
He adds..
Laldas adds that the movement has got nothing to do with Lord Ram's birthplace.
And later this happened( in 1992)..
The most poignant and disturbing response was by a lady who was considered as belonging to untouchable caste.
