HOW SOWORE CAN GALVANIZE NIGERIAN YOUTHS NOW

Four days after the @YeleSowore-led #RevolutionNow Movement embarked on a protest across parts of Nigeria, some of the participants arrested by @PoliceNG and the DSS, are still illegally incarcerated at various detention facilities.

2/ Illegally incarcerating the hapless and aggrieved Nigerian youths who embarked on the #August5thProtest, beyond 24-48 hours, runs afoul of Section 35 of Nigeria's 1999 Constitution, which guarantees Right to Personal Liberty.

3/ Section 35 (5) provides that an accused person who has been arrested on the allegation of having committed an offence must be charged to court within 24 hours where a court of competent jurisdiction is located within a radius of forty kilometers from the police station.

4/ and where a court is out of the reach of a forty kilometres radius from the police station, the accused person must be charged to court within 48 hours or such longer period as a court might consider reasonable.

5/ One of the main jobs of Nigeria's security agencies, funded by tax payers is law enforcement, not law breaking.

This is once again calling on the outgoing & incoming @NigBarAssoc leadership to do the needful and cause the unconditional release of these incarcerated youths.

6/ That said, dear @YeleSowore, morph this cause into a #MassMovement.

HOW?

1. Build a coalition across Nigeria's 774 LGAs, 36 States+FCT, which spans the 6 geo-political zones.

2. Let the coalition be devoid of 3 Banana Peels- Political Partisanship, Religion & Ethnicity.

7/ HOW?

3. Through writing, officially extend a hand of fellowship to all Youth-led socio-cultural, human rights & transparency organisations across Nigeria's 6 geo-political zones.

4. Write all Students' Unions across Nigeria's 44 Federal Universities; 48 State Universities; 79 Private Universities; 28 Federal Polytechnics; 43 State Polytechnics; 51 Private Polytechnics; 22 Federal Colleges of Education; 47 State COEs & 20 Private COEs.

9/ HOW?

5. Also, extend a hand of fellowship to past & present leaderships of @NANSNIG & @NYCN_Hq, at National & States levels.

6. Extend a hand of fellowship to the incoming @OlumideAkpata leadership of @NigBarAssoc & @NUJofficial for Legal Gymnastics & Good Press.

10/ HOW?

7. Dear @YeleSowore, no matter how you perceive this, you'll need to extend hands of fellowships to @ASUUNGR, NASU, SSANU, NLC, as well as other labour unions, across various sectors of Nigeria.

8. Get on board, many Nigerian celebrities & influencers on #TwitterNG.

9. Having done this rigorous home work, behind the scene, break this #MassMovement into smaller leadership units across the 36 States+ FCT & across the 774 LGAs.

10. First Pilot Project of the #MassMovement should be Specific, not Generic- #EndPoliceBrutality.

12/ Dear Distinguished Comrade, @YeleSowore, among other things, the abovementioned strategies are what you need to morph this cause into a #MassMovement, transcending beyond Political, Religious & Ethnic lines, between now and 2023.

It goes beyond Twitter hashtags.

13/ Dear @YeleSowore, if we have more than 15,000 patriotic Nigerian Youths marching towards Aso Villa, @nassnigeria or any State Government House, demanding #EndPoliceBrutality, #EndPoliceExtortion, #EndPoliceHarassment against hapless Nigerian Youths, imagine the TSUNAMI?

14/ @YeleSowore, if we have more than 15,000 patriotic Nigerian Youths marching towards Aso Villa, @nassnigeria or any State Government House, specifically demanding #ElectoralReformsNow, #EndElectionRigging, #EndElectionViolence, #EndElectionMilitarization, imagine the TSUNAMI?

15/ END- @YeleSowore, I reiterate that the pilot test for this #MassMovement must be demanding #EndPoliceBrutality.

Once, this menace is taken care of, you'll see Nigerian youths trooping out, enmasse, whenever they're called upon, without any fear of intimidation.
