Today is the 101st Janma Tithi of the 'Father of Indian Space Program', Dr. Vikram Sarabhai.

A great institution builder, he was instrumental in establishing many institutions, in diverse fields. He built great teams and mentored many future leaders.

Among the large cities (metro regions) in the country - #Pune probably has the worst public transportation, lowest per capita ridership, and (partially as a result), the highest per capita two wheeler ownership.

This has implications on the urban spread of #COVID__19

1/n
After the end of the first phase of lockdowns - starting May, Pune citizens were moving all over the city.

In other cities, this movement was restricted to varying degrees, as public transport was not functioning.

2/n
#Mumbai probably has the best public transportation and highest per capita usage. Also lowest per capita two wheeler ownership.

As a result, movement of citizens across the city, was automatically restricted to a good extent.

Today is the 20th Punyatithi of Purushottam Laxman 'Pu La' Deshpande - one of the most loved personalities of the Marathi speaking world.

#PuLa was not just an author and a humorist; but also an actor, a musician, a composer, a film maker, and much more.

#PuLa was also an active supporter of many social initiatives, including science outreach. While not active in politics, he did make some important speeches during the 1975 Emergency.

Finally...some data from serological population survey.

The first study has revealed that as high as 1/3rd of the population in many containment areas in hotspot cities may have already been infected by the virus and quietly recovered.
