In 2016 I voted for HRC. Admittedly I was not her biggest fan. The difference in qualifications between her and her opponent however, was staggering.
On one hand, a former senator and Secretary of State, on the other:
HRC wasn’t perfect; no one is. But compared to 45*? C’mon.
I knew the racists were coming out in force for 45*.
Misogynists voted against HRC.
At its core, my inability to see how deeply ingrained sexism is in this country is akin to white people’s inability to fathom how deeply entrenched racism is in this country.
I’m sorry. I was wrong. I’m trying to do better.
After four years of 45* the racists are bolder than ever.
I respect everyone’s legit criticisms of Kamala, while acknowledging she’s about to become the most heavily scrutinized person in the history of US politics.
She’s not perfect.
The difference is: she can (and will) be held accountable. The difference is: 5+ million people didn’t contract a novel virus under her watch, wrecking the economy. The difference is: she’s not an aspiring autocrat.
The difference is: points screaming at every day of the past four years, every human rights violation, every act of corruption, every assault on democracy.
I ask like I asked four years ago with HRC: how is this even a question?
I won’t make that mistake again. #KamalaHarris
