#GunjanSaxena is really good though, and so was Janhvi. Why isn't everyone talking about it? Very impressed by the way it looks at patriotism as a byproduct, a sidenote even, of a determined person's dreams.
The way the film uses the songs to underline her love for the act of flight is great too. Even the potentially bhaari Bharat ki Beti sits well within the film's context, all thanks to Pankaj sir's underplayed, understated father role.
There is zero melodrama. Even when the film calls for it as far as the protagonist's gender is concerned, it's rather dignified. Mostly because Gunjan doesn't want to prove a point, she just wants to fly. She isn't looking to win over the world, in fact, the world doesn't matter.
All it takes is a parent who treats their daughter no lesser or no better than the son, that's it. That's all. Always impressive to watch a film that chooses not to hammer at our heads with its message. Watch watch.
