So, friends. I have an update:

3rd #COVID19 test yesterday. 32 days since I quarantined/isolated at home.

Still tested positive. What? Surely. . .

My Physician reviewed my case & as per CDC guidelines, I can consider myself covid-free and released from isolation.

2. Although not common, it isn't unheard of for people to continuously test positive for #COVID19. Esp those who were symptomatic. I seem to be one of them.

Perhaps I had a heavy viral load that is taking a while to clear from my system.

Symptoms are gone.

Just recovery.

4. My symptoms:

- fever/chills
- headaches
- pain in my legs and feet
- coughing (yaani!) & chest tightness
- breathlessness
- unsteadiness/crazy dreams/hallucinations
- loss of smell/taste
- EXTREME fatigue
- anxiety

The 1st 14-20 days were the hardest.

But no hospital.

4. Although there is no cure for #COVID19, I ended up on:

- 2 kinds of antibiotics
- malaria treatment
- cough meds
- steroids
- zinc (still on this)

Plus paracetemol.

And the usual potions, concoctions, supplements and sensible diet.

5. Oh: @MOH_Kenya finally rang me twice, last wk. Thank you. It is clear they are overwhelmed.

Home based care is a luxury.

Yes, it is cheaper than PAYING FOR PPEs in hosp + treatment but it is still a cost that is passed on with zero thought to the patient. This is not right.

6. So, what does HBC entail?

- additional masks for everyone in house + jik + sanitizer, etc. (more than usual)
- doc's consultations + home visit
- medication
- #COVID19 tests (also for high risk family members)
- supplements/potions/concoctions/enhanced diet
- RENT + UTILITIES

7. When I factor in upfront & hidden costs, I am already already closer to 100K!!! Who has that kind of money? I don't. More so when I didn't contract #COVID19 "carelessly".

Eg 3 tests for me, 2 for hubby, 1 for Hse Mgr = Sh50K!!!

But no.

Gava thieves are eating covid funds.

8. I preach the gospel of #CashWorks #HumanityKE. If @MOH_Kenya is overwhelmed & wants HBC to be the way forward then households must be FACILITATED & EMPOWERED.

If I have lost my job/business due to #COVID19 how do you expect me to isolate at home? I can't afford it. Literally.

9. I am grateful to have survived #COVID19 & send my pole sana to those who lost loved ones & those still fighting for their lives.

This is not a conspiracy. It is real but we are on our own because the Uhuruto regime is profiteering instead of supporting us & bldng resilience.

10. Finally, STIGMA is real. It hit my family.

Fear triggers hysteria. Ignorance fuels stigma. Your love & support was CRUCIAL for my recovery. Let us support one another. AND MASK.

When I walk into a room, please don't panic & run away.

So now, back to those thieves. . .
