I'm the first to air my suspicions about this shoddy corrupt cabal in No. 10 but this u-turn is a complete shambles (though clearly welcome) and definately comes under the 'massive cock up' category. The dead cats have run out, the lies are exposed, the corruption undeniable
the incompetence is spine-tingling. These lunatics who are slaloming towards no-deal, with no discernable plan, crashing the economy and deliberately damaging our standing in the world - have weaponised the forces, VE & poppy day, politicised MY flag, crashed the union
and mishandled Covid from day 1. They are indefensible, and having swapped the thinkers for Brexiteer ERG wingnuts - with an 80 seat majority that was a touch, based largely on lies, misinformation and spin STILL can't get any major decisions right. Nicola Sturgeon makes Johnson
look like a bumbling idiot politically, Also Mark Drakeford, and even the appaling on Brexit Arlene Foster, and the Sinn Fein leader. Everyone apart from Cummings is working to solve our problems. The English Govt are deliberately trying to make things worse as far as I can see
this isn't leadership, this is a farce. A dereliction of duty, and a catastrophe. Genuinely, they should stand aside, and allow us to take our broken politics back to the store it came from - for us to exchange it for one that works.

Privatisation of the UK's rail network, simply, has been an overall disaster.
Credit due to @Mark_J_Harper for taking the abysmally failing Trans Pennine routes back under Govt control. The northern service generally, is a remaining vestige of the north/south divide.
#HS2 was a good idea, implemented poorly, with no proper fiscal scrutiny. I supported the principal, but not this version of the scheme.

Having worked in retail for much of my career, no supply problems have just one cause. One of the main issues here is simply due to changed arrangements post Brexit. Access to produce from Morocco for instance, (as that's current) will go as priority into the single market.
Leaving the UK with less availability & higher prices. Much of Ireland's produce is via the UK, explaining shortages there. + high energy costs, and growers difficulties in exporting, AND poor weather conditions, and you've a perfect storm. Is Brexit solely to blame? No. It's not
Is is largely to blame? Yes it is. The next pinch-points will be potato's and chicken. Experts have warned us that food will be in shorter supply. As usual, they were right. The solution? Listen to experts, and negotiate access to the Single Market.

Sunak warned of the consequences of Truss's tax cutting policies only in August. Fiscal irresponsibility from the party that has wreaked havoc for years now. ImageImage
Truss doesn't care about the increasing divisions in society. Those Tory MPs who supported her for the sake of their incumbency at home will find new careers at the desperately needed #GeneralElectionNow - while the rest of us are left struggling with inflation, fuel costs,
recession and real terms pay cuts. It's a litany of failure from infrastructure to NHS queues. This whole mess, which began with #Brexit and keeps getting worse, will take non-blue politicians years to even get to grips with.

Update on my political plans...in the 19 GE I stood in one of the safest Tory seats available - and was pleased to have increased the vote significantly in a "paper" seat.
That's when I first engaged on Twitter. I read every single comment everyone makes. Even the occasional tough one! What's been confirmed by you guys is that this awful Govt has to go. It's a total mess and things must change. What's also become clear is that there are 30-50
seats that will only go Tory>Lib Dem. I've great respect for you all, I'm genuinely honoured to have follows from Labour, Green, SNP, Plaid and small 'c' Tories. Collaborative working is what mends this, until we can get PR installed. I don't 'do' the tribal piece, or try not to,

The reality of the impending disaster of a Truss Govt is a long and terrifying story. Many of my readers warned of the consequences of Johnson going, and that in fact, worse was likely. Here, in stark terms it is. Image
There will be nothing other than a sop paid to the most vulnerable in society over the alarming rise in energy costs. Why? Because the far-right overlords of the ERG know her tenure in this Parliament will be brief. Those facing the catastrophic rise in costs
are incredibly unlikely to vote for her in a GE next year. She has none of the disingenuous mass market appeal Johnson had, so they aren't even going to bother trying. They've delivered #Brexit (such that it is...) So can't really go there - so what CAN they sell to voters?

Under NO circumstances should Johnson be allowed to remain PM in any capacity. #ByeByeBoris
He's clearly volatile, wholly unpredictable, and will need removing from Downing Street by being dragged out. He's apeing the worst aspects of Trumpism. He's buying time until October, and who knows what further damage he will do at home and abroad between now and then.
We are at a major crossroads now. His overt Narcissistic behaviour, his intent on revenge leaves his own party in as much danger as the rest of us. He disingenuously obtained his 19 mandate by lying about his oven ready deal, and getting Brexit done.
