How cute. Perhaps he would like to explain why the Mughals fought only at Buxar to save their Empire ?
Balaji Vishwanath signed exactly this with the then Mughal Rafi ul Darjat in 1719.

Revenue collection over former Mughal territories.

But that won't be mentioned. Doesnt fit narrative.
Across the Mughal empire 🤭🤭🤭

This was just rights over Bengal.
I didnt know the Marathas and also Durgadas Rathod and others were merchants 🧐

" Our realm now extends to the Yamuna" - Peshwa Bajirao.
Here is the treaty signed by Marathas. Very similar to one signed by the British.

Doesn't it mean Mughal Empire fell to Maratha ?
He describes the pathetic state of Delhi and calls the whole country Anarchy.

The same time Pune flourished, had a functioning police department and well laid out gardens and peths.

@DalrympleWill please make correction.
After being fairly detailed till 1803, the book simply rushes to a quick end. Laswari - one line (toughest test for Gen Lake but not evident in book). No mention of Yashwantrao Holkar. No mention of Third Anglo Maratha War or the deposition of the Satara Chhatrapati.
For comparison. (Ref JL Mehta)
