Slept around 11p, woke up at 6:30a, about 7 hours. 0630-0700, editing yesterday work and getting breakfast.
Liban did some three sessions, followed by 4 hours of family meetings and problem solving, followed by another hour of preparations for grocery shopping and even more talks to some other family members.
622, Liban worked yesterday between 6a-1p, about seven hours, followed by another 3 hours, 7:30p-10:30p, worked about ten hours. He does not remember what he did most of the times. He will start today reporting again, paying $10, if he fails to report every 69 minutes.
This time, Liban was working and his alarm did not go off; so, he was forgiven, but not next time. 0805.
Liban finished great work right now. He caught himself starting to browse again. He will take break, finish small work and then get back to work. 0859.
Liban will now focus another 52 minutes. This is the fourth session; the previous session Liban focused on working for community foundation. He will work now, the fifth session, on some family administrative work. He worked on first and second session on religious text.
Liban is still working on some family visa project, sitting in an office now; he read about intelligence studies feild; the feild is part of political science, or international security or relations studies. Methods used include case studies, assessment of information and so on.
Sixth session ended, with Liban is still working on some immigration papers and right now, he wants someone else to help him out and they are busy on something else. Liban is currently enjoying on an outdoor environment, meditating.
Seventh session ended. Liban learned that when he is stressed, his ability to focus diminishes; the reverse is also true. One way to fight distraction is to address stress through meditation. Liban meditated most of 7th session, with less frequent distractions.
Liban will come back at 5:30pm.
Liban planned to end conversations about 5:30p with family member; he continued until 6p; afterwards, he did not succeed to focus.
Liban wishes to test for 52 min the effects of pursuing what he loves now. He wishes to study intelligence studies, its principles and causes and produce such works; he also wishes to do career counseling. Very often this experiment was not carried out due to distraction
He wishes to write intelligence briefs using publically available information, gathered from wide sources, since they say 75% of data used by intelligence analysts is publically available.
When Liban started the second round of mind-mapping, he noted that he lost interest in both topics. He was interested in aimless browsing; the reason being mid mapping became challenging and he lacked any hope of breakthrough. He was experiencing emptiness & anger.
He has passed now the valley of despondency, where hopelessness is the predominant mood. If one sticks around and then continues the work, he wrote,
breakthrough is inevitable. Liban uncovered that he was engaged in basic science research: exploration of the unconscious or psyche
His task was to continue the exploration and report discoveries. Most tasks, he wrote, present difficulties initially or they appear to be more difficult than they are. Grit is the method to use. Liban has resolved now the dilemma between counseling and intelligence. How so?
He shifted to exploration of the unconscious; most problems are solved in this way :mind-map what interests you to find interests. The task he was engaged in was an intrinsically motivated activities. Discoveries may also be used in both career counseling and intelligence breifs.
To systematize curiosity driven projects, pursue curiosity driven projects. It is that simple. Doing so, Liban wrote, engages your unconscious or your emotions. You may therefore be engaged for a longer period of time, provided you say no to distraction
One instrument that allows use of both curiosity and creativity sequentially at least is mind-mapping: there is exploration, curiosity, and there is aha moment, trial web shift, when random exploration is suddenly illuminated.
When the valley of despondency is prevailing it may be the conscious mind entirely relying on its own resources and assessing as it stands that there is no hope. Someone who has strong inclination along this may be stuck in this state of hopelessness. Later: suddenly it is dawn
What is the point of this?: grit. ‘in psychology, grit is a positive, non-cognitive trait based on an individual's perseverance of effort combined with the passion for a particular long-term goal or end state (a powerful motivation to achieve an objective)’ source: Wikipedia
