G'day Tallarook!
On the north east line, opened in 1872.
Junction for Mansfield branch line to Yea 1883 extended to Mansfield in 1891 and Alexandra in 1909.
The last regular passenger train to Mansfield operated in 1977.

When standard gauge line was built through the station in 1961, it cut right through the middle of the station, three gauge crossings were provided between the broad gauge main line and the sidings on the other side.

Good Morning Wangaratta !
Opened on 28 Oct 1873, as the temporary terminus of the line from Benalla, before line extended to Wodonga on 21 Nov 1873. Junction for the 2' 6" gauge Whitfield line from 1899.

Good Morning Whitfield!
Whitfield was the terminus of the VR 2' 6" line from Wangaratta. First VR narrow gauge line to open 1899 closed in 1953. The Whitfield line goes through flat country but there were plans to extend into the mountain regions.

"The line was officially opened on 14/3/1899. The line closed beyond Moyhu to trains on Feb 1952 due to bush fire damage. After that, the small amount of traffic was handled by a motor trolley. The last train ran on 6/10/1953, last trolley on 10/10/1953."

Good Morning Whittlesea
Railway to Whittlesea opened 1889.
Commenced from Spencer Street and ran via Royal Park, the Inner Circle through North Carlton and North Fitzroy before joining the present line crossing the Merri Creek bridge.

Electrification commenced in the early 1920s reaching as Reservoir. Rail motors began running between Reservoir and Whittlesea. Then electrics extended to Thomastown 1929.
When the line was opened from Collingwood to Princes Bridge passenger services were routed via the more direct path whilst freight services continued along the Inner Circle.
