Think your uterus rules all when it comes to your period? Think again.

When you experience a late period it's down to factors like stress, diet, hormones, etc. - things easily impacted by the #COVID19 pandemic.

Here's how...
#AvonsPracticalTips #HealthyLiving Image
What stress does to your period

Your brain is responsible for sending signals that release the hormones stimulating your ovaries...which in turn tell your uterus to menstruate. Cortisol, a stress hormone made by your brain, can interfere with that process.
#AvonsPracticalTips
If we're physically stressed, we're showing that by not sleeping, eating, or exercising well. If your system is producing more cortisol than usual because of these responses to ongoing stress, that can create abnormalities.
#AvonsPracticalTips #HealthyLiving
Cortisol affects our reproductive hormones by interfering with the feedback cycles that create an imbalance of those necessary period hormones like estrogen and progesterone.
#AvonsPracticalTips #HealthyLiving
While cortisol itself isn’t all bad, too much of it can throw bodily functions, like menstruation, out of sync. The higher your cortisol levels, the greater the likelihood of menstrual weirdness.
#AvonsPracticalTips #HealthyLiving
While no studies have been published focusing on the effects of a pandemic on menstruation, it makes sense that the psychological stress from health, financial, and family pressures many people are experiencing right now can negatively impact it.
#AvonsPracticalTips
What to do if your period is late

If your periods are not happening at their normally expected times or are missing completely, consider checking with your doctor.
#AvonsPracticalTips #HealthyLiving
Remember that periods go rogue for lots of reasons—it could be medications you're taking, a hyperactive thyroid, or, you guessed it, a possible pregnancy.
#AvonsPracticalTips #HealthyLiving
There are other things besides stress that can go into weird periods; significant weight loss or gain can stop your ovulation patterns. A lot of exercises can also screw up the cyclical release pattern.
#AvonsPracticalTips #HealthyLiving
In all of this, the most important thing is to not panic.’ Irregular periods are very common right now, given that we’re all a little stressed out.

Well, except you've tossed a bun into the oven.

1. It is neither 'Brazilian' nor is it a butt lift.

The BBL is an augmentation of the buttock region using a patient's fat tissue.
#AvonsPracticalTips #HealthyLiving Image
The BBL procedure starts with liposuction of a different area, often the abdomen, flanks, thighs or back.

The fat removed from these areas is then injected into the hips and buttocks to improve shape and projection.
#AvonsPracticalTips #HealthyLiving
2. BBL can be dangerous

The keyword is 'can'.

Although it is generally safe, there is a risk of fat getting into major blood vessels and clogging them when being injected.

5 things you should never say to a suicidal person

#Thread #WorldSuicidePreventionDay #AvonsPracticalTips #HealthyLiving
1. “Suicide is selfish and Cowardly.”

This guilt trip is quite common but many people who consider suicide think their existence is a burden to the people they love. 'Self' is the last thing they care about.
#WorldSuicidePreventionDay #AvonsPracticalTips
Also, it's counterproductive to help someone by shaming them? Naturally, people would do everything possible to avoid death. We won't say suicide is brave but overcoming the fear of death isn't cowardly.

We often talk about what foods to avoid to prevent chronic diseases but what about foods we should eat more of?

#Thread #AvonsPracticalTips #HealthyLiving
When examining what risk factor is responsible for more deaths around the world than any other, the culprit isn't smoking or even high blood pressure.

It's a poor diet.
#Thread #AvonsPracticalTips #HealthyLiving
According to Ashkan Afshin, lead author of a 27-year global diet analysis recently published in the Lancet, this issue is not just about unhealthy food options; but a lack of healthy foods in our diets and high levels of salt.

Did you know some health conditions can affect your personality and make you act in ways that are out of character for you?

Here are a few...
#MentalHealthMatters
1. Schizophrenia

This can make you hear voices and see things that aren't there or believe things that aren't real. At first, you just might not be as social as normal. As it gets worse, it can be tough to keep your thoughts on track, making it hard to even talk to people.
2. Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

This condition (OCD) makes you feel anxious and have thoughts and urges you just can't stop. For example, you might wash your hands over and over again. You might doubt yourself a lot and take a long time to finish simple tasks.

Exercising, quitting smoking, etc. Those are the 'regular' things your doctor will suggest to keep your heart healthy.

But there's more.

Here are 10 out-of-the-box things you can also do to ensure that your heart keeps going strong.

#AvonsPracticalTips #HealthyLiving
1. Play between the sheets

Sex may add more than just pleasure to your life. It may also help lower your blood pressure and risk of heart disease. Research shows that reduced sexual activity is associated with higher rates of cardiovascular disease.

2. Brush your teeth regularly

Good oral hygiene does more than keep your teeth white and glistening. Some research suggests that the bacteria that cause gum disease can also raise your risk of heart disease.
