On 28th August Indian Army captured strategic Hajipir Pass situated at a towering height of 8651 ft on the formidable Pir Panjal Range dividing the Srinagar valley from the Jammu area.

The Hajipir pass was a major ingress point for Pakistani infiltrators. The troops of 1 Parachute Regiment fought dauntlessly climbing over 4000 feet during the hours of darkness. Despite the massive downpour were able to oust the infiltrators.
