COVID Update August 29: Let’s go ALL the way back to May 9th. Remember May?

A refresher: Southern governors were opening up. Brown people were dying. Trump was giving us the middle finger. And idiots on Twitter were becoming experts at herd immunity.

An oldie but a goodie.
I’m proud of how far we’ve come since then. Combatting the virus on pace with the most anti-science, corrupt, and concentrated wealth-high poverty nations in the world! Goosebumps, right?
Enjoy this little flashback. And with a little hard work, help from the mail system, massive amounts of voting, and a crow bar, let’s hope three months from now are looking a lot better.

The Hatch Act says you can’t use taxpayer time or money even inadvertently for political purposes, even inadvertently.

When I joined the Obama Administration, they scared the crap out of me about this.
They told me a story of someone I knew who was in trouble for a Hatch Act violation and had to exit the government.

I was shocked. This was one of the most ethical people I had met. Deeply kind, the type that would do anything to help someone & who advised us on the rules.
It sounded scandalous.

Indeed, his partner had a fundraiser at their apartment for a candidate and he attended. Meaning he went to his own apartment.

COVID Update August 28: Pandemic rules.

There are none, but there should be.
1- Loss of life should be more uncomfortable than it is. Our president shouldn’t be able to hide from it.

Cameras everywhere. We need to stop referring to people in jails & the border as anything less than Americans.
2- Scientists should be required to report all conversations with the White House where they are being asked to alter a scientific finding to the Inspector General.
