2/ How do we harness the many thousands of decent people in a fight against the right wing culture war lies and the liars that lie them? They have much MSM Press & a sophisticated SM operation dedicated to mislead people. It is a modern version of the Goebbels nazi playbook.
3/ The decent truth loving moderates whether left centre or moderate right need to be brought together in a way that operates as a huge popular rebuttal unit. Relying only upon fact & truth to counter the lies wherever they are identified. Reliable fact checking unleashed! How?
4/ I know they are fact checking sites but we need to link & unleash the truth in a ruthless way that demolishes en masse the fascists & right wing culture war proponents in order to save our democracy currently being undermined by lies & distorting right wing propaganda. How?
5/ We need to unite democratic disparate groups & individuals so that when right wing propaganda is identified wherever it is found in MSM or SM that we counter it with facts to disrupt & prevent the stranglehold these liars may gain on FB, Twitter etc with simple truth & facts.
6/ Otherwise we cede the ground to the organised far right & even extremists now having a hold on what was once a respectable Tory party. If we don’t fight back (with peaceful means) we are at risk of losing our democracy in its recognisable form to something far darker.
7/ So we need the various groups who still believe in democracy to come together & organise. Checking egos at the door and working together. More than that though. We need to harness expertise of IT experts to the progressive information alliance. Can this be done? I hope so.
8/ Imagine a rebuttal unit which has the support of hundreds of thousands of us responding to the call to fight for truth an democracy! Imagine if an obvious lie is promulgated on Twitter Facebook etc that an alert goes out with rebuttal facts & we swamp offenders with truth!
8/ So let us join together in an organised way. Committed to truth not factionalism. With the simple aim of countering lies wherever identified. People are entitled to their own opinions but not to their own facts but at the moment right-wing opinions and distorted facts prevail.
9/ It needs good people with no agenda save one. To rebut right wing or left wing lies and elevate truth in their place. Then we can form our own disparate opinions but based at least upon a firm framework of information. If people still wish to believe lies we cannot stop them.
10/ But what we can do is remove any excuses for people to quote lies without knowledge of available factual information to the contrary. You cannot blame people for believing lies where they inhabit social media bubbles where that is all they hear. We need to provide alternative
11/ So how do we join together? How do we combine our expertise to build a lie rebuttal platform with our truth triumphing over those lies? It needs organisation with no agenda other than spreading truth and facts but in a far more organised way than simply the odd share of post!
12/ I may be shouting into the void. It may be that we are too divided and too defeated to fight back. But I think many love democracy & fear its current corruption. I think with goodwill and effort we can do this & fight back against the dying of the light. Let’s combine.
