Obama got rid of Kelly and Flynn because they were insubordinate, went off the rails and couldn't be trusted. Obama actually warned Trump about both men. We know what Flynn did. And we witnessed Kelly's overt racism, misogyny, Islamophobia & xenophobia first hand.

John Kelly's personal tragedy of his son Robert's death does not mitigate his vile history. It is not an excuse for his allowing torture at Guantanamo nor his virulently cruel approach to immigrants when he controlled the southern border. Kelly behaved like a monster. Obama knew.

John Kelly believes Islamic terrorists come into the US via Mexico. He was Q before Q. He believes Black and brown people are less intelligent and more prone to violence than white people--he pushed the narrative of MS13 and other dangerous immigrants to Trump.

It is tempting for those of us who *are* empathic to excuse terrible behavior by people who have had serious losses like Kelly. But we can't afford to do that. TRUMP DENIGRATED JOHN KELLY'S DEAD SON AT HIS GRAVESITE AND KELLY DIDN'T QUIT--HE TOOK A NEW JOB WITH TRUMP.

John Kelly not only witnessed Trump attack John McCain and Khizr Kahn--he witnessed Trump attack his own son. And instead of standing for those war heroes, he stood for Trump--a man who undermined this country and refused to serve. And he attacked women and BIPOC for Trump.

Americans love to make victims out of bullies. Stop participating in the collective gaslighting. John Kelly deserves your empathy because he lost a child. He deserves your scorn because he turned his back on that child for power which he used to harm others.

John Kelly knew what it was to lose a child. Yet as head of DHS he separated families hourly and expanded that plan while in the White House. Obama warned us about Kelly and he was right. When people show you who they are, believe them.

Oh-- and John Kelly hated women in the military and hated #LGBTQ in the military. He fought against women being allowed in combat and it was Kelly who devised Trump's trans military ban.

Folks eager to rehab John Kelly, long-time torturer of brown people who Obama axed from his administration, should recall what Kelly did to Myeshia Johnson, widow of Green Beret Sgt. LaDavid Johnson. Kelly helped Trump attack her, publicly. A grieving war widow. Oh--she's Black.

Sgt. LaDavid Johnson was killed in action in Niger. It was a brutal death. He left his wife Myeshia, and three young young kids. When Trump called her, Trump forgot Sgt. Johnson's name and told his widow "This is what he signed up for."

John Kelly held a press briefing in which he attacked Myeshia Johnson and her family friend, Rep. Fredericka Wilson. Kelly called Wilson "an empty barrel" and lied about her--for which he has never apologized. Kelly's raw racism is as renowned as Trump's.

One more addition to this John Kelly thread📌--among the wars in which Kelly says he has served: the 1992 LA/Rodney King riots. Kelly is a racist who fought bitterly with Obama. But he gave Trump a ceremonial sword "to use on the press" when he accepted the DHS post.

Also, John Kelly quit as Trump's COS to work for Caliburn International, which operates the shelters for migrant children who are homeless because of family separation policies Kelly instituted as DHS director prior to being COS. So he has monetized the racism.
