When you joined into #ShutDownSTEM & #ShutDownAcademia it is because you were on a #Strike4BlackLives

This is because you were making a commitment to eradicate systemic racism.

This is because you understood you have a role to play.

We need to end this.

Together.

You understood deep down that there is no reason why anyone based on their skin color should undergo this treatment. Losing their lives, loved ones, being profiled by police, subjugated to painful treatment.

You understand deep down that #BlackLivesMatter

We saw you show up in powerful ways. We saw the plans you shared. We see you moving forward into action. We saw you take to the streets. We saw the spaces you created for support and care. You donated resources.

We saw your commitment to change.

June 10, 2020 was only one day. It was the start.

We are here 3 months later and I want to ask you :

Where are you in your growth? What plans did you make that you need to update?

You don't need to answer me here though you need to ask yourself this.

What have you done to help create lasting change?

Take a minute to start with yourself & move outward to everyone you interact with

Are you showing up? Stepping into speaking up? Are you learning? Are you still having these conversations? Are you providing support?

Education + Action + Healing

You need all three together.

You need to learn, you need to do something and we need to take care of each other in compassionate ways.
