So since I am already getting heat...Let me stipulate that even before today, I 100% believed Trump downplayed COVID.

That isn't a secret. He did so publicly at his press conferences.

Problem is the 'Oh, I knew it was dangerous, airborne'.

I think he's talking out of his ass.
Why do I think that?

Because every infectious disease expert we know, those that worked in the Obama administration as well, all said otherwise.

Redfield. Fauci. Birx. And even former CDC heads.

Not one said it was airborne in February.
Furthermore, these experts were giving real time info to Governors and mayors as early as mid-Feb. We know for a fact Fauci talked to Cuomo and DeBlasio around the middle of that month.

Unless you think Fauci was lying, whatever info the White House had, Cuomo and DeBlasio had.
Also, these same people gave briefings to everyone in Congress, from Nancy Pelosi on down.
Here is Nancy Pelosi in late February...a week or so AFTER she got a briefing from CDC, etc.

Are we saying Fauci, etc all lied to the Speaker of the House?

nbcbayarea.com/news/local/nan…
A week later, DeBlasio tells New Yorkers that the subways are safe.

Remember...he had a briefing almost three weeks before this.

nydailynews.com/coronavirus/ny…
The same weak, Gov. Cuomo also said the buses and subways were safe.

He resisted closing schools for TWO MORE WEEKS.

wsj.com/articles/amid-…
It was only on March 16th that New York finally acted, and closed schools.

theguardian.com/world/2020/mar…
The Woodward video comes LATER THAT WEEK.

The timeline makes no sense, UNLESS its Trump bloviating that he is smarter than everyone else, because...that is what he does.

cnbc.com/2020/09/09/tru…
The only way to square the circle otherwise is:

1. Fauci, Birx, etc (who were all Obama nominees too) lied to Democrats about the science (unlikely).

or....

2. Dems knew the risks, and downplayed it too.
Lets also remember two key points:

1. China denied it being airborned through out this period.

2. WHO only admitted it was airborne on JULY 9th! That is not a typo.

Unless you think the WHO is stupid or are composed of liars, none of this makes sense.

livescience.com/who-covid-19-a….
Again, you would have to shut off all portions of your logical thinking to believe all this.

Unless you think Trump is smarter than several Nobel laureates, the entire WHO, CDC and US health apparatus.

I mean, come on people. Get a grip.
And THIS.

If this is true...Woodward let people die for book profits...right?

So, it appears a lot of people simply want to forget the sequence of events on COVID/Coronavirus.

Its highly inconvenient to admit who really prevented the world from reacting properly to this scourge.
The first cases of COVID19 now appear to have been showing up in Hubei Province in LATE NOVEMBER 2019.

The Chinese at that point didn't realize what they had on their hands. But even then they suspected a new SARS like outbreak.

December 6

China reported the first case with documented date of symptoms.

BLM riots probably cost multiples of that.

But hey...narrative and all that.
Look, many cities did NO tracking and tracing after early BLM protests. Some went as far as to tell their operators to not even ask about protesting! (NYC, for example).

But we saw spikes in several cities, for sure. Birmingham, for one...

LA, Seattle and Miami saw at least some data to support that the virus accelerated in the time range after the protests.

So, a Europe #coronavirus update.

Europe is clearly seeing a second wave. All the major countries now have seen surges in cases, but thankfully, not deaths (yet).

France, UK, Spain, Italy, Germany, Belgium and others are seeing cases increase.

What can we learn from this?
First the data.

@FirstClassDuck @mattyglesias @asymmetricinfo 1. It appears that the French reduced subway usage very quickly to almost zero. Here they are after opening up...

@FirstClassDuck @mattyglesias @asymmetricinfo 2. The French lockdown was very harsh. Subway use almost came to a standstill in March.

Starting in March, French citizens were restricted to their houses and only allowed outside with a completed permission slip.

@FirstClassDuck @mattyglesias @asymmetricinfo In early March...NYC and state leaders were still proclaiming the subway was safe...and weren't recommending masks.

The failure of our local leaders to simply do their friggin jobs may be the biggest reason why this country is flailing.
The media also has failed us; they found a 17 year old kid and tore into his social media within MINUTES last week...but seem not to care about publicizing this on the national airwaves:

A little perspective on the protests this summer:

1. All started with George Floyd's killing. A day later, protests peacefully start in Minnesota.

2. Protests (still mostly peaceful!) continue the next day, though there is some looting and destruction in Minnesota.
3. By May 28th, things are out of control in Minneapolis. Destruction is rampant. One person dies (though we only find the body later). State of Emergency is declared, but National Guard is only sparingly used.
4. Protests spread across the country, but Minneapolis is burning...Gov Tim Walz is slow to respond. Mayors impose curfews, which are not enforced and do nothing.

5. Just as protests slow in MN, Atlanta erupts. on May 29 as buildings are burned and damaged, including CNN HQ.
