Covid "fears" are being triggered and encouraged by well organised white supremacist groups, the same ones who turned up on St Kilda beach to protest "African gangs." This isn't local, it's international. Similar protests are happening across Europe, using the same messaging.
They share views of anti-vaxxers, anti-Muslim,anti-migration, anti-marriage equality, anti-feminist reactionaries and activists, arguing that Covid restrictions are part of a sinister agenda to curb the "freedoms" of mostly white majorities, although why becomes fuzzy.
The global activity that contains them has already had success with Brexit, getting Trump and other populist reactionary leaders elected, pushing alt-right policies. theguardian.com/books/2020/aug…

Ugly reactionary mainstream political discourse, cultivated and nurtured right here in Australia, has twice motivated and inspired two of the world's most despicable and depraved acts of mass murder, both committed within this decade.
A big influence mentioned in the NZ W.S. mass killer's manifesto was the manifesto of the Norwegian W.S. mass killer, who killed 77 people in 2011. Two influences Anders Breivik (hate using his name) cited were the anti-immigration stances of John Howard and George Pell.

Patient zero for Victoria's second wave was not a security guard but a hotel night manager who probably caught it from a guest ...a considerable effort was then made to contain the spread of the infection.
Seven security guards contracted to patrol the hotel were stood down immediately and told to get tested and go home to isolate. But it was too late.
