On Wednesday, I hosted the inaugural meeting of the National Steering Committee (NSC) For The Preparation Of Medium-Term National Development Plans (MTNDPs) 2021 – 2025 & 2026 – 2030 and the Long-Term Perspective Plan, Nigeria Agenda 2050.

(3) — HM of @FMWA_ng, @PaulineKTallen, Chairman @NGRSenate Committee National Planning, @SenAdetunmbi, Prof Jibrin Diso representing people with special needs, National Chairman of APGA, Dr. Victor Oye, among others.
(4) In the Democracy Day speech of 2019, President @MBuhari announced the desire of @NigeriaGov to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty on to the path of prosperity in the next 10 years, implying an average of 10 million people annually.
(5) This remains one of the cardinal focuses of the MTNDP 2021 – 2025 & 2026 – 2030 as these plans will focus on creating jobs, deepening economic activities, and providing an environment for the private sector to thrive.
(6) I also gave an update on the steps we have taken so far towards the development of this inclusive National Plan with the capacity to accelerate the attainment of various regional & global goals, including @_AfricanUnion Agenda 2063, Ecowas Integration Agenda & the SDGs 2030.
(7) At the end of the meeting, we all proceeded to the State House where His Excellency, President @MBuhari, GCFR, inaugurated the National Steering Committee and further expressed his expectation that the committee would oversee the execution of key deliverables -[cont'd]
(8) — including recommending measures to ensure the continuous implementation of the Plans – including legislation, if required.

It was my pleasure to declare open yesterday, a 3-Day Capacity Building workshop organized for Technical Working Group Anchors & Heads of Secretariat constituted for the development of the Medium-Term National Development Plans (2021 - 2025 & 2026 -2030) & the Nigeria Agenda 2050
(1) As a responsible government, keen on changing the fortune of Nigerians, the administration of President @MBuhari desires that we periodically draw comprehensive plans through which the welfare of citizens can be enhanced economically and socially, among others.
(2) The new plans being articulated are expected to address development challenges in all aspects of the nation’s life within the agreed time frame; and, so it was thought wise to build the capacity of the major drivers of the process to achieve a robust outcome.

A year ago, I was inaugurated into the Federal Executive Council by His Excellency, President @MBuhari as the Minister of State, Budget, and National Planning of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

(1) On January 13, 2020, President @MBuhari signed into law, the Finance Bill, 2019 making it the first time since the return of democracy in 1999 that a National Budget was accompanied by a passage of an enabling Finance Bill.
(2) With the signing of the 2020 Appropriation Bill on December 17, 2019, by President @MBuhari, we successfully restored the Budget Implementation Cycle to a January - December Calendar.
