Here's what experts tell @CNBCTV18News about the likely impact - a thread
- currently, large caps acc for approx 73% of allocation in multi cap funds, modcaps acc for approx 21% and small caps acc for about 6%
#mutualfunds #investing #market
- assuming funds will still want to keep 50% in large caps, it means 23% will move from large cap stocls to mid and small caps
- that sources say is about Rs 32,000 cr of movement in stocks over 4-5 mths
- edelweiss est shift of Rs 240 bn from large to small cap stocks
- edelweiss est shift of Rs 120 bn from large to mid cap stocks
- the larger impact will be on small caps wrt price movement given the low base
- avg traded volumes currently are
Midcaps: Rs 11,700 cr & small caps: Rs 4,800 cr.. that will mean roughly 2% addl vol/day
In terms of investors in multi cap funds.. opinion is currently divided.. some say its good because currently, most multi cap funds are behaving like large cap funds. The other part wonders what role is left for the fund manager to play? Expect more concrete opinions soon!
