More people have died from 9/11 related illnesses than died in the attacks. Today, I'm reminded of all the grieving 9/11 families, & those who said it was safe to return to Lower Manhattan when it was not, includng Rudy Giuliani and Christine Todd Whitman. newsweek.com/how-many-peopl…
After watching the Twin Towers collapse on 9/11 and reporting on horrific scene, when I returned home at the end of the day I learned that my neighbor Adele Sessa died. Soon after, I learned that a friends brother, Joseph Della Pietra, died. Both worked at Cantor Fitzgerald.
Afterwards, the deaths continued to mount. Then last year, we lost a colleague, former CNN cameraman Michael Gittelman. He lost his life to a 9/11 related cancer. Never forget means many things to different people, including that people continue to suffer in pain.

Thread: Comparing my experience getting a #COVID19 test at a @NYCHealthSystem's testing center vs. a private urgent care center. At the urgent care, I waited outwside with a dozen or so other people. At Cumberland/Gotham Health on North Portland Ave in Brooklyn there was no wait.
At Cumberland/Gotham Heath I was given hand sanitzer before entering tent. At @CityMD no one made me sanitize my hands, but hand sanitzer was availabe. At Cumbrerland/Gotham Health someone made sure I wore my mask properly. At the urgent care, a man walked in without a mask on.
The man without a mask at @CityMD continued to talk to staff and no one told him to put on a mask until someone in the waiting room said something to an employee. At Cumberland/Gotham Health every staff member wore a PPE gown over scrubs, a visor and a head covering.

THREAD: A positive story from NYC. Please retweet. This man deserves some recognition. While there was looting elsewhere, something extraordinary happened at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. A group of 5 young men who saw a rudderless movement going awry decided to change course.
Earlier in the evening, thousands of protesters left the plaza & marched through Brooklyn. Back at the Barclays Center, these 5 young men took ownership of the space. They calmly persuaded people to take part in a candlelight sit-in and a dialogue about race and racism.
All was going well, but then a larger, angrier, more agitated group came along. Ndeh Ntumazah (on the left in the photo) walked over to that group and asked the group's leader if he could speak over his bullhorn.
