Iranian opposition NCRI holds an online conference focusing on #Iran's human rights violations & calling on the int'l community to take decisive action to save lives.…

#Iran's regime is in violation of int'l human rights laws. Yet the int'l community has failed the people of Iran & allowed the regime to enjoy impunity by refraining from holding regime officials to account.

The UN has done next to nothing about the regime of #Iran. We should not allow the people of Iran to be abused by the regime and ignored by the international community.
The brutal and secret execution of Navid Afkari gives us a sense of what is happening in #Iran. There must be worries for dozens of political prisoners who might be wondering if a similar fate is awaiting them.
It’s not the death penalty being applied to ordinary criminal offenders, which still happens in some countries in the world. It’s pure terror & the regime wants to ensure its own survival in this horrible way.
They buried him at night w/o allowing his family to hold a funeral because they feared that it would spark further protests. It is common practice in #Iran today to torture political prisoners to extract confessions.
#Iran’s leaders are afraid of their own fate, which translates to more brutal action at home to protect their own interests.

#Iran's IRGC chief threatens to kill anyone directly or indirectly involved in the killing of Qassem Soleimani.

Soleimani, former head of the IRGC Quds Force, was killed in a U.S. military airstrike on January 3, 2020, near Baghdad International Airport.
It is worth noting that IRGC chief Hossein Salami has a history of making ridiculous remarks:

"If the terrorist US Navy seeks to jeopardize the security of our civilian ships or combat vessels, that vessel or military unit must be targeted."
"[Israel] knows that the smallest mistake onn its part would be its last because any new war will erase that regime from the political geography of the world."

@CFR_org is insisting on providing a platform to #Iran’s chief apologist @JZarif despite the horrific execution of #NavidAfkari & the following int’l outcry.

This is just a short glimpse of who CFR is inviting.

Attention: @RichardHaass
CFR has a history of providing a platform to Zarif to push his lies & talking points. Here he defends Bashar Assad, the brutal dictator of Syria, and his use of chemical weapons against civilians.
This is the individual that CFR & Richard Haass are so keen on inviting.
