During my #Covid duty days one common concern has been raised frequently about whether mothers with #COVID19 can transmit the #SARSCoV2 virus to their infant through #breastfeeding.
So here is my take on this👇hope it help on clearing the air to some extent🙂
Recommendations on #mother_infant contact and #breastfeeding must be based on a full consideration of not only of the potential risks of #COVID19 infection of the #infant, but also the risks of morbidity associated with not breastfeeding,
the inappropriate use of #formula_milks, as well as the protective effects of skin-to-skin.Even the #WHO recommends that diseased mothers should be encouraged to continue to breastfeed and should be counselled that ..
..the its benefits substantially outweigh the potential risks for transmission. It appears that COVID-19 infant represents a much lower threat to survival and health than other infections that breastfeeding is protective against!
