With the recent arrests, and escalated violence against Indigenous Tribes defending their Homelands from the Colonizer's Destructive Border Wall. I wanted to show some solidarity from Dinétah, the home of one of my ancestral bloodlines. #nowalls#noborders #borderwall
Ahéhee’ to the Uncle Sam for helping brainstorm this with me.
We translated "No Walls No Borders" into Dine' Bizaad.
"Bináhásdzo Dooda!".
This has the ability to be understood in English as, "No Walls No Borders!".
We never used to have Nation Borders physically scarring our Mother Earth. We placed our homes within' our Four Sacred Mountains. Even The Navajo Nation borders drawn on a map today, go against our Ancestral teachings. Shame on our Navajo 'leaders' who support the Colonizers way.
But from us Dine' who know walls are nonsense, to the relatives protecting Mother Earth at the border, thank you for your stand against the Colonizer's destructive ways!
“I am now 73 years old. I was at Indian residential school from age 11-15. I had to work in the infirmary, where there were many sick and hungry children. I’d steal food like peanut butter and bread to feed them. A lot of kids died there."
"I had to handle the dead children — wrapping them to be buried. Once I got caught speaking my native language. I wasn’t aware my language was different. My punishment was having four fingernails pulled out. At residential school we all received numbers. I was known as #702."
