Now it is about half a year since COVID-19 pandemic started all around the world. For me the day when it was announced that everyone should be isolated in their homes was very special and I will remember this day as the most crazy day of my life
Let's start with a little pre story. As you know I am a member of the Drury swim team. In the first half of March we headed to Ohio State to compete at the National Championship - our final competition of the season. Every team was preparing for this meet the whole year
Drury University swimmers arrived at the Spire Olympic Center on the top of their physical conditions and in a good mood. On the arrival day there was a nice banquet where all the teams met together, sharing the expectations. Our athletes were ready to start the fight for the win
After the first day of the competition Drury swimming & diving was holding the first position. 200 medley relay squad with my participation hitted the team record and took the fourth place
The morning of day two was full of the positive vibes. Our 400 medley relay hitted team record in the prelims and qualified to the finals with the best time. We were looking forward to take the gold in the evening finals. However, we were shocked when we go inside and see this
Yeah, the meet was canceled in the middle of day 2. Every athlete was upset by such a denouement. Seniors were shocked the most because it was their last swim competition in their life. I also did not imagine that my first season at Drury will come to an end in this dramatic way
