We wish Donald and Melania Trump the best, as well as staff and those who were in contact with them, including reporters and the Bidens.

This White House was too cavalier about a virus that should have never infected the Commander in Chief. In fact, DOD has guidelines.

THREAD
You can read DOD directives here: bit.ly/30uCRvP

First, DOD says if you have symptoms, you must inform your supervisor and STAY HOME. Clearly that didn't happen.

Second, service members must quarantine as soon as they exhibit symptoms. This didn't happen.

2/
DOD also says if you've been in contact with someone who has COVID, and you're asymptomatic, you should still quarantine for 14 days. Today, it seems a number of WH staff are at work, despite potentially being exposed.

Positive test results don't always show up immediately.

3/
DOD does allow for some exceptions on quarantine if you are "mission critical," but requires very rigorous testing and precautions.

At this time, we're unsure whether the White House is telling potentially exposed non-essential employees to stay home.

4/
The White House is surprisingly small. DOD directives say to try to maintain 6 feet of distance in work spaces. We do not know if the White House has instituted this, at this time.

We can be fairly certain it would mean keeping some staff at home.

5/
It is unconscionable that the Commander in Chief would not run his White House in line with guidelines, like the military's, which we just outlined.

Regardless of your feelings about Trump, our security depends on a healthy Commander in Chief and White House.

6/
We urge everyone to be more responsible than Trump and his administration. Be extraordinarily careful. Wash your hands. Keep social distance, and protect others and #WearAMask.

Together, by following common sense guidelines, we can protect health, lives, and our country.

🚨If you’re looking for a textbook example of Stolen Valor, look no further than Donald Trump’s campaign and the 50 Veterans who signed this letter.

29 of the signatures come from Republicans who falsely claim they retired from military service.

The most egregious example is Ronny Jackson, the former Navy officer reduced in rank from Rear Admiral to Captain after retirement.

(Follow this thread as we call them out one by one)Image

@RonnyJacksonTX - you were demoted from Rear Admiral to Captain – why are YOU committing stolen valor for claiming you’re a retired flag officer?
@TroyNehls – to see you signing a letter to ANYONE about stolen valor is the height of hypocrisy. Ask anyone who’s seen you wearing that Combat Infantryman’s Badge that you never earned!

The notion of a president claiming immunity for ordering the assassination of a political rival using the military like SEAL Team 6 is fundamentally against the principles of democracy and the rule of law.

Here are several reasons why such an act would be VERY detrimental:
🧵
The Constitution enshrines the rule of law and the separation of powers. The president using the military as a tool for personal vendettas, and not allowing the judiciary to hold a president accountable violates these principles. It undermines the checks & balances designed to prevent the abuse of power.

2/
Democracy relies on peaceful transitions of power and the electoral process, not through violence or force.

Utilizing the military to target political rivals would move us into an age of authoritarianism and away from democracy.

We've got something to say about the fringe attacks happening on our LGBTQ+ Troops coming from the right.  So listen up.

🧵
There are real threats facing us, and we need all hands on deck to defend our country. Our Military is the most lethal and capable fighting force in the world because it's made up of our best, brightest and strongest.

/2
The fringe right wants to impose its extreme social engineering on our Military by alienating and kicking out LGBTQ+ Troops.

They'd sacrifice our security and Military for their social agenda.

Donald Trump is consistently a clear and present danger to our national security. His followers believe his lies and end up dying on his behalf.
Trump is not just a danger to our nation, he's a danger to his followers.
@RepMTG, how do you feel about contributing to someone’s death?
@laurenboebert, how do you feel about contributing to someone’s death?

Today is #MemorialDay. While it has become a day for BBQ's, beaches and sales, please remember the real reason for this day, and why so many have off work to observe it.

🧵
Interestingly, no one agrees where Memorial Day started. Numerous places claim it, which only proves how important we as a nation agree it is to remember our fallen.

At any rate, the name Memorial Day wasn't official until 1967, some 100+ years after the first observances.

2/
This is also not Veterans Day. While we'd argue any day is a good one to thank a Veteran for their service, and ask how they are, today is dedicated to those we've lost.

It's not a "Happy" day, either.
