You all know that I believe in a righteous fight. Well, I also believe in giving credit where credit is due after the battle.
Today #Local706, specifically #RandySayer & #PollyLucke moved mountains to ensure that a talented hairstylist is on his way to union membership.
1/
I mentioned them by name because it was NOT a small thing that they did for me, the stylist and the black actresses in particular that will soon have another amazing union artisan to craft their glorious natural curls, coils & blessed kinks WITHOUT heat!
It’s a huge thing!
2/
I also want to thank the amazing union hairstylist #CarlaFarmer for standing in the gap & helping to facilitate the conversation that helped us all work everything out.
I worked w/Carla on my first series regular role EVER — #TheBigHouse in 2003. She remains a real one.❤️✊🏾
3/
I am many things right now: A proud black woman. A humble union member. A grateful actress.
I get what all those things mean in this industry & the world. #Trust!
It is always my goal to fight the good fight but to also move with integrity.
These tweets are that. ❤️

This will make some of you uncomfortable. I’ve decided to post it anyway because I’ve spent my whole life uncomfortable in this country. You’ll survive.
Don’t hit me w/a #NotAll, either. Use that energy to work on the white women in your life this 100% applies to. YOU know them.
If you are upset or offended by this thread ask yourself: Where the lie resides about white women as collective?
If you don’t like the tone or language, ask yourself: What’s more indecent…the turn of phrase or the voting statistics that caused the original poster to say it all?
This is no longer about your feelings or discomfort or your tears.
We have seen them all weaponized on camera for years — that Karen name just rolls off y’all these days.
You’ve leaned in like the folks stealing porch packages right in front of ring cams in broad daylight.
What this disgusting piece of 💩 is too dumb, greedy, complicit or hateful to realize is that people using these BENEFITS are UNABLE to work or DO but don’t make enough to survive. 6M of OUR tax dollars went to their latest 🗑️ investigation. I’d rather it go to those in need.
Further, raising the debt ceiling is about ensuring that our country pays the debts it has ALREADY accrued. Tying the @GOP goal of making sure no one who needs help gets it — besides billionaires & corporations — to the debt limit is evil. But that’s what they all are. #Evil.

Our tax dollars freely go to fund wars and to bail out corporations. No one bats an eyelash at that. But somehow using our money to help the poor, young, elderly and sick among us is somehow a step too far?
Who are we if we don’t care for those who are in need?!

If you want to see a PERFECT example of a Karen attempting to weaponize her tears to get what she wants even if it ultimately causes bodily harm to a Black person, watch this.
There you go again. Who said you couldn’t say woke? You can and SHOULD.
Just not pejoratively.
Racists, homophobes and xenophobes have weaponized the word to stand in for anyone and anything they hate like Black folks, books and a woman’s right to choose.
I don’t have beef with you @mxw616 but you attributed a thought to me I didn’t have or express, while mischaracterizing a word Black people use to signal that something important to our very existence needs to be paid attention to.
I won’t educate you further because I’m tired.
And every Black person — especially Black women are tired.
There are books you can buy or get at a library that will explain all these issues if you still don’t get it.
I said I thought it was an overcorrection, which I can speak on as a Black person because we, alone, get to decide how we feel personally about something that could be racist or offensive.
I did NOT say anything about “being woke” being an issue or a problem EVER.
What y’all NOT gon’ do is infer that I believe — or EVER said — that being cognizant of the hate and racism and micro-aggressions in this white-supremacy-fueled nation is a bad thing.
An #OverCorrection means folks CARED about not being hateful
#BeingWoke & the use of the word #Woke was OUR thing. WE told each other to #StayWoke. It was OUR way of encouraging & reminding each other that better can come if we stay vigilant & focused on moving forward despite the hate.
