Can someone explain how it's controversial to say that government policy should reflect the manifestos that the majority vote for... #MakeVotesMatter@MakeVotesMatter
In 2017, 54% voted for parties with manifestos that promised to stay in the Single Market regardless of whether we left the EU, and ruled out No-Deal.
We got a "No-Deal is better than a bad deal" government, hell bent on taking us out of the single market. #MakeVotesMatter
The 2019 election was the only chance the country had to say whether the Brexit that the government had spent 3 years negotiating was actually the will of the people.
And again 52.7% voted manifestos stating NOT to leave on those terms without a 2nd referendum. #MakeVotesMatter
Our elections have been delivering the exact opposite of the will of the people, and we're supposedly a democracy?

One day Americans will realise that ideologies like Trump's attitude to Coronavirus (killed 150,000 extra people compared to countries that locked down well) or the 2nd Amendment (kills 30,000/year) ... are far more dangerous than any terrorist or extreme religion. #Election2020
Maths proof:
US Coronavirus deaths = 210,000
Death rate = 0.064%
Germany Coronavirus deaths = 10,000
Death rate = 0.012%
If America had Germany's death rate, then only 39,518 people would have died from Coronavirus. That's 170,000 less.
I was being generous with 150,000.
If you're wondering how the UK stacks up.
We've had 42,369 deaths that have been officially labelled as "from Covid" (I know excess deaths is much higher).
If the UK had Germany's death rate, then only 7,952 people would have died.
It's weird that Right-wing people are so defensive about being called right-wing... Almost as if they know there's something wrong with it.
If you think society prioritises the needs and feelings of minorities and financially poor people too much, you're right wing. Own it!
One of my best friends refers to himself as economically Conservative but socially Liberal. That means he's right wing when it comes to taxes and the economy but Left-wing when it comes to race, gender, sexutality etc.
The political spectrum doesn't just exist on one axis.
I just realised that makes him the exact opposite of "Blue Labour" who seem to have his line of "We want high-taxes but we're still racist". 😅
Let me just give you a quick THREAD of examples to show that the BBC is politically skewed to the Right, so we can all be clear that if GB News is to the right of the BBC, it's going to be RABID.
OK... As the viewers of GB News might say... Let's deal with Nish Kumar first...
1⃣ Why do you think most comedians are left-wing these days?
Comedy doesn't punch down & it attacks the absurd. The Right is in power and it's being led by Trump & Boris!
That makes them the obvious targets.
2⃣ If a BBC News presenter had said the F-word (a swear word that's offensive to everyone) during a broadcast, can you imagine it taking more 30 seconds for the BBC to issue and apology?
But with the N-word (targets black people) they refused for 2 weeks. mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/bbc…
I just had to explain to Ann Widdecombe that Japan is a little further than 2000 miles away, and that the countries within 2000 miles of us ARE EU COUNTRIES!
P.S. We signed a "continuity" trade deal with Switzerland & Liechtenstein but:
a) In both GDP and trade volume, they're about 4% of the EU.
b) That 4% will fall, because if there's No-Deal, Swiss trade falls due to basic geography and mutual recognition agreements will fail too.
I calculated that 4% figure from the 31 billion in trade the government said we do with Switzerland when they announced the agreement.
Well today, that same government said the borders are ***** in January. So exporting to Switzerland might not be as easy. news.sky.com/story/brexit-m…
What if pubs & restaurants etc had grades of Covid security...
E.g.
Grade 1- distanced tables,
Grade 2- plastic screens between all tables,
Grade 3 *Grade 2* + extractor fan above each table.
So that depending on the infection rate, lock down measures only affected lower grades?
I just feel that helping businesses make those changes might have been a better use of the #EatOutToHelpOut money than literally paying people to increase the infection rate, because it would have protected more businesses long-term...
This would make it so that it's in the financial interest of businesses to make their premises as Covid secure as possible to avoid being hit by future restrictions.
And the #EatOutToHelpOut money would have helped them get there.
