The President & his staff acted recklessly in coming to New Jersey knowing that they had been exposed to someone with a confirmed positive test.

We hope that no confirmed cases come out of the event in Bedminster.

This is a matter of humanity, but also of leadership by example.
Contact tracing efforts ARE underway following last week’s fundraising event with the President at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster. We are tracing:
☑️206 attendees at the two separate events
☑️19 staff members who were involved in both events
Working with @CDCgov, we’ve contacted out-of-state attendees.

The @NJDeptofHealth, in partnership with the Somerset County Health Dept and local officials in Bedminster, is leading contact-tracing efforts within New Jersey – including the staff at the golf club.
Attendees have been notified that they:
☑️May have been potentially exposed to #COVID19
☑️Should self-monitor for potential symptoms
☑️Should enter a 14-day period of self-quarantine
☑️Should get tested no earlier than 5 – 7 days after the event
We know it can take up to a week – even longer – for an infected person to test positive, so even a negative test taken within this window should not override the need to self-quarantine for a FULL 14 days.
We continue to send our best wishes to @realDonaldTrump, @FLOTUS, @GovChristie, and all who have tested positive over the weekend.
We continue to investigate reports that suggest the Bedminster event may not have complied with our current rules, which may have put others at risk.

Any failures to comply with our emergency orders will be referred to @NewJerseyOAG for a follow-up.

NEW: The @NJDeptofHealth dashboard will now report instances of in-school transmission as well as #COVID19 cases identified. The new dash balances:
☑️Transparency and public information
☑️Protecting the privacy of those in our schools

Our overarching aim remains ensuring that our schools do not become the epicenter of new outbreaks. We have in place the protocols and guidance to ensure that, when identified, a case is removed as quickly and carefully as possible from the building environment
So far, the reopenings of our schools have progressed smoothly and in accordance with the plans that districts submitted to the @NewJerseyDOE – with minimal disruptions reported, and any identified #COVID19 cases quickly dealt with to minimize the potential for in-school spread.
