1. an alternative to femoral or fascia iliac block for hip pain

4. if you can do a femoral block you can do a PENG block

Where do you put the local? Just deep to the psoas tendon which is visualized on the ramus, creating a nice pool
Why does the PENG block work so well for hip pain?
Current understanding is that it blocks high articular branches of the femoral nerve and the accessory obturator nerve. These nerves are consistently found between the iliopubic eminence and the anterior inferior iliac spine
When should you use the PENG block?
Anytime you might have hip pain, specifically hip fracture, hip arthroplasty, hip arthroscopy and chronic hip pain
