1) @Twitter & @Facebook don’t have to host speech that misinforms Americans about the risk of a deadly virus: washingtonpost.com/politics/2020/… They could mask it with facts first.
2) Americans need & deserve so much better from a @POTUS:
Twitter has now masked Trump’s tweet & explained why (it violated rules about spreading misleading & potentially harmful information related to #COVID19”) but also *removed* a tweet.

No linked tweets by @TwitterSafety or @TwitterComms explaining why a tweet by @potus is gone?!
Reading @MikeIsaac’s reporting on @Facebook removing a post for violating its #COVID19 misinformation policy: nytimes.com/live/2020/10/0… but nothing about @TwitterSafety taking down a tweet or what Rules it violated
But @Twitter said it wouldn’t remove his tweets. What changed here?
WOW. @Twitter told @Olivianuzzi that they *locked President Trump’s account after he tweeted the work email address of a @nypost columnist until the POTUS agreed to take his tweet down.
Historic precedent, if so.
Adds context to him calling to repeal Section 230, & @Jack’s power.

@opengovpart Would be good to see ministers, @HelenClarkNZ, & #opengov leaders grapple more with deliberate undermining of trust in government, election integrity, & the press by autocrats, from Hungary to Turkey to Russia to the USA, & share what works to mitigate or reverse it

If every American starting wearing a mask tomorrow, we would be able get back to work, school, sports, & civic life long before a viable vaccine reached 70% of our people.
Thousands will keep dying until we all mask up.
Start there, then test, trace, & isolate.
