How to use post-it notes to become a better reader.

(thread) 🧡
1/

Why use post-it notes?

β€’ It allows you to visually see with ease where the important passages of a book are located

This comes in handy if you want to use the information you read for a future project, book, or simply just to revisit a valuable lesson.
2/

How do you use post-its?

For starters, don’t put them on the top or bottom of a page.

You want to put them on the side because the side of a book is longer in length & thus you can spread the notes out which makes it easier to access. ImageImage

β€’ Book
β€’ Pen

1) Write your name & the date on the inside of the front cover.

If you ever forget or mix up books, you’ll know which is yours.

The date serves as a type of journal entry in your life and can tell you how long it took to read the book.

They say don’t judge a book by its cover.

I disagree.

β€’ How To Judge A Book By Its Cover

(thread) 🧡
1/ Look At The Book’s Title & Subtitle

The title tends to be there to grab your attention while the subtitle conveys what the book is actually about.

Also look to the cover art for more clues.
Take this book as an example.

Catchy title, but doesn’t tell us much.

Subtitle tells us it’s about how to stop overworking & doing too much & how to start living more.

Great cover art. We all know sloths move slowly so we can assume this book is about slowing down in life.
