Yes. a parallel to Mondale 1984 & DEMs RT @9monthsyourgone
Replying to @UES82624940 @1stKiersten

It’s time for sanity in America vote Joe Biden about an overwhelming numbers it’s not over we have to make sure we send a clear message pack your bags and go home
So these kinds of directional mistakes happen in all democracies, over time. In the USA, the Democrats got ever more lost in the late 1970s and 1980s, leading to 1984 Mondale loss where he took about 40% of the vote

After that DEMs regrouped, noticed they need NEW DIRECTION
What Mondale era DEMs were offering was 'classic' socialism ('lite', Europeans would add). When Bill Clinton came with a centrist and more business-friendly view, suddenly DEMs were again popular. It is a question of going too far to one edge. The GOP did this with Newt Gingrich
It was not obvious until we saw Sarah Palin & Tea Party. That cancer corrupted the old Republican party so that today's Trump GOP is essentially all Sarah Palin fans and the more centrist 'John McCain' style Republican have been ousted (John Kasich, Jon Huntsman, Ana Navarro etc)
As long as GOP remains in loonie-ville pushing Teabaggers, ie Maganutters, they will lose MASSIVELY in national elections (Senate, Congress, President) and will be increasingly ousted. They will then learn, and return to 'sanity' ie the center.

This would have happened naturally
Remember Trump lost the popular vote in 2016 by 3 million to Hillary. If not for the obsolete Electoral College, Hillary would be President now. And if Trump had lost in 2016, the Tea Party would have been discredited, and GOP already now on the mend. Instead they now have war
The GOP is now in an internal civil war, for the soul of the party. I believe it has already died (the party) killed by Trump. I would suggest healthiest thing for America is a genuine split of Tea Party & GOP. And I think Republicans need a new party name & new centrist view
But regardless. If you can only attract 40% of a national election in a 2 party system, your message is kaput. Your party is no more. It has ceased to be. It has expired. It's a stiff. Bereft of life, it rests in peace. It has gone to meet its maker... Trump killed the GOP

Lets talk SCOTUS & Judges

#MoscowMitch McConnell started with Merrick Garland delay, and also denied over 100 Obama district court nominees. He has altered the balance of the courts in unfair manner. That needs to be corrected. Duh. It also will be. And here's the how...
First SCOTUS. As Merrick Garland & now RBG are #MoscowMitch McConnell cheating of the system, they need to be redressed. After the election, as long as Joe Biden wins AND also DEMs take the Senate, then it is really easy to fix the current unfairness. Enlarge the Supreme Court
There is ZERO legislation restricting SCOTUS to 9 Justices. Because GOP cheated, it needs to be fixed. Two bogus Justices, enlarge the court by 4 to 13. all 4 of those DEM Senate appoint liberal justices, balance flips as it was SUPPOSED to with Obama and Merrick Garland

Oh.. let's get back to the SDNY story ie resignation & pardon. So SDNY is not New York state. Their pardons don't stop NY State from prosecuting Trump for state crimes so Trump will land in prison

Trump KNOWS this. He would not resign. He'd only DROP OUT OF the ELECTION
My feeling is, IF Trump makes this kind of move, it is not resignation. It is stepping out of election (with whatever excuse including 'covid complications') - but NOT RESIGNATION. Trump doesn't want to lose. He'd prefer not to be on the ballot. Then he can blame others...
So Trump could suddenly announce 'I will not seek re-eleciton, Pence can represent the GOP from 2021 if he wins in November. GOP can nominate a Veep for Pence and I recomment Ivanka'

This move is totally Trumpish, and would be worst possible move to GOP, demoralizing GOP voters

BTW on that SDNY / Pardon story. I told you before, it is 100% certain that Trump is being asked by REPUBLICANS to step down, to resign, to hand over the Presidency to Pence. Note, these GOP know they'd still lose with Pence on top, but Trump damage would stop...

But as I said..
But as I said, only Trump knows the full extent of all of his crimes. Nobody 'sane' who comes to suggest any transition to Pence including pardons, knows what all crimes await Trump in New York State.

And that is NOT SDNY. SDNY is FEDERAL crimes, prosecuted via NY federal office
As we know, Mueller farmed out about a dozen lawsuits. They are all CRIMES (or series of crimes). Most but not necessarily all, involve Trump. We KNOW there are several STATE TAX laws including New York, Illinois, California & Florida. Pence CANNOT pardon those (and are not SDNY)

Then rallies RT @JustAManic2020
Replying @tomiahonen
If he does have a rally maybe he'll tire himself out before the next debate. Media will start asking if he is still on steroids but he can lie. Not worth the public health risk. Even if Trump is better, rallies are dangerous
I agree with you. Trump rallies are super-spreader events and should be outlawed. No. Not outlawed, simply that the Covid-19 rules should be CLEARLY and forcefully enforced. Social distancing (empty seats in between) and mandatory masks.

As you see, the small crowd behind Trump
In pix of his rallies, that small crowd behind Trump will always wear masks and has a stunning mix of women (Trump rallies are 80% men) and non-white people (Trump rallies are 5% non-white)

But lets talk about those rallies. Trump WANTS the rallies. Because he is addicted to it

LOL yes, and lets do the Insanity of Hannity RT @johnsharris1
Replying to
@tomiahonen

Would bet Inanity Sean agrees with you, basically . . and gets a kick out of it . . power rush . . .
So Fox's Sean Hannity is arguably the dumbest person to host a TV show. And THIS voice, is who Trump trusts. The idiot. But Hannity knows how to 'play Trump'. And Hannity is just marginally smarter than Trump, to be able to influence him. The dumb leading the dumber.
You remember I wrote in the thread that Trump only listens to the last person to talk to him. About a year or so ago, there was a fascinating article about who gets most of Trump's nightly phone calls - his GO TO GUY is Hannity. Hannity is effectively the USA's second-in-command

So remember... 25th Amendment. Trump could remove himself (he won't). If not, Trump's cabinet including Veep ie Pence could remove him. This was considered early in Trump's Presidency by Secy of State Tillerson & Chief of Staff Gen Kelly, but 'plot' was snitched by Nikki Haley
So there are 'sane' Republicans who have been even that close to Trump, they served on his Cabinet, who wanted Trump removed as incapable to serve. It is not beyond realm of possibility. Pence would become POTUS (into essentially lame duck). But Pence must be part of this scheme
The more Trump damages the GOP in coming 4 weeks, the more they will find a 'remove Trump' idea appealing - but they likely won't dare to say it outloud. Trump will resist and declare it is a palace coup and illegal mutiny & treason and whatnot.

I don't see 25thA happening BUT
