Event scheduled to start at 3 and already around 200 here.

Moderate police presence, but no more than usual. BHPD has taken to setting up cordons in Beverly Gardens Park each Saturday to separate any counter protesters. Only saw one counter protester, but no coordinate showing so far.
A number of fully loaded tour busses have come by, some riders showing support, others not so much
Update: around 300-400 people, no counter protesters, lots of dogs, and even more flags
Like previous rallies, a majority of attendees are unmasked. While illegal in BH, BHPD has issued no citations at the rallies. According to BHPD:
“We have not issued citations for face coverings. Code Enforcement is the lead agency in the City for face covering violations.”

BREAKING: Attorneys on behalf of protesters plan on filing a temporary restraining order against the LA Sheriffs Department for “excessive force” against protesters, press, and legal observers.
I’ve compiled a thread documenting some of the allegations of abuse.
Context first 👨🏫
On Aug 31, LASD deputies shot & killed 29yo Dijon Kizzee in South LA. LASD says DK was riding his bike on the wrong side of the street, an alleged code violation. 2 officers tried making contact, DK resisted and fled, dropping a bundle of clothes w/ a gun.
Video shows Kizzee running when deputies opened fire, shooting around 15 times. LASD has updated their story multiple times, saying first that he ‘made a motion’ toward the gun, then that he ‘recovered the gun and pointed it.’
Covering a dance protest in WeHo against the LA Sheriffs Department. Currently around 75 people at intersection of SaMo Blvd & San Vicente. LASD, in full riot gear, has blocked off surrounding streets. Dining & drinking continuing in Boys Town.
LASD Deputies on two sides and watching from Station
Protesters have rolled out a long sheet of blank butcher’s paper for anyone to write on.
Tonight, LA Sheriff’s deputies rushed a group of protesters, firing less lethal munitions and flash grenades. For the next few hours, LASD combed through nearby streets for protesters. Sources report 2 arrests. This marks the 8th day of protests for the killing of Dijon Kizzee.
LASD had declared an unlawful assembly—something they reportedly did not do last night before opening fire.
Sheriff’s deputies fired less-than-lethals at protesters in South LA tonight, apparently in response to activists carrying a bookshelf. According to activist sources, there have been 6 arrests. This marks the 7th day of protests of the killing of Dijon Kizzee by LASD.
