There is such a formula to this grift.
Seriously, come on.
Is this real life?
Of course, it always ends in the same place, too.
But not always.
Almost forgot this schtick.

There are some good policies in here, from @Twitter and it’s good to know that there’s one social network that’s actually thinking things through proactively (looking at you, @Facebook and @YouTube), but there are also some concerns:
1) Tweets with misleading information should not be able to be shared period. Why mark something as misleading and then allow it to be amplified across the platform despite the fact that it has already been deemed factually incorrect or somewhat incorrect?
2) Trending topics should be shut down until after the election. Too easy to game for those who want to sow confusion, even with additional context. People don’t care about the context. Twitter is giving people too much credit.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Fox News opinion shows have been pumping out dangerous disinformation about COVID-19, endangering the public and the people on the front lines trying to save lives.

The medical community has had enough. #DoNoHarm
Together with medical professionals, we are asking Fox’s advertisers, including several drug companies, to stand with us and stop advertising on Fox News until they end this horrific campaign of misinformation which, according to studies, has cost lives.

npr.org/local/309/2020…
.@pfizer, as a drug company and a leading advertiser on Fox News, will you stand with the medical community stop spending ad dollars with the network until they stop their horrendous COVID misinformation?

This person is @verified on Twitter.

Hell of a platform.
This is the monster that the social media and tech companies have created.

He’s got a show on @YouTube and his podcast is distributed by @ApplePodcasts @GooglePlay @spotify & @iHeartRadio.

The more violent and racist he gets, the more engagement he gets & the more money he gets
It all works together to create an incredibly dangerous ecosystem that eventually leads to real world violence.

Instead of hiding behind a “free speech” argument that doesn’t apply to businesses, these companies have to take some responsibility for once.

HAPPY STEVE BANNON IS INDICTED DAY, EVERYONE!!!
Sleeping Giants was started BECAUSE of Steve Bannon. Because he was so uniquely racist & dangerous. Because he was a guy who openly pushed racism in a way previously unseen in this country and something needed to be done.

It is hard to overstate just how big this is around here.
Of course, Bannon is and always was a fucking grifter. This was always going to be the way it went for him.

His genius was convincing a bunch of gullible power-hungry billionaires that he could do their bidding by stoking racial resentment in exchange for lots of dough.

July is ending, but the #StopHateForProfit campaign continues because Facebook has taken no significant action on hate and disinformation.

The findings in this report by @accountabletech shows that it’s not just us, but CONSUMERS who are demanding change.
accountabletech.org/media/polling/
Among other findings:
66% of consumers want FB to stop recommending and amplifying hateful content.

63% want FB to change their policies to help stop radicalization & hate.

60% want FB to create automatic flagging of hateful content for human review.
Not only that, but consumers LOVE brands participating in the #StopHateForProfit campaign!

74% (!) support companies pulling ads from FB in order to stop funding hate.

34% even said they’d be more likely to buy those brands who have paused their ad dollars to FB!
