#COVID19 has shown us that leadership matters! I have been reflecting on effective leadership attributes. Here are my initial thoughts. What do you think?
1️⃣ Truthfulness — leaders valorize science, evidence and data and these factors drive decisions
1/n
2️⃣ Empathy — towards the > 1 million people who have died and their families, and all those who have lost their health or livelihoods
3️⃣ Respect — for health workers and all essential workers who put themselves in harm’s way to serve their communities
2/n
4️⃣ Humility — to learn from history and other jurisdictions, and adapt based on lessons learned
5️⃣ Solidarity — because none of us is safe until all of us are safe; global challenges require multilateral solutions; #COVID19 preys on inequities within & among countries
3/n
6️⃣ Resolve — along with calmness, because unfortunately #COVID19 will be with us for awhile
7️⃣ Hope — because we will get through this, together!
4/4 fin
And to this initial list I would add
8️⃣ Partnership — leaders are allowed to lead by communities. They must be self-aware, non-judgmental, collaborative, engaged. These and other attributes above build trust.
