MONDAY #COVID19Colorado data release:

Headline: "With hospitalizations continuing to rise, positivity goes above 4%"

HOSPITALIZATIONS:
(COVID+ ONLY)

Today: 288
Last week: 233
#9News Image
POSITIVITY

For the first time since first week of August, the 7-day average is above 4%

(remember, 5% is really the line we really don't want to cross) Image
CASES

We're now over 700 (7 day)
(that's the most since the start)

(*We are testing a lot more too... so that explains some of it) Image
Bottom line

We're officially in territory we haven't been in... in months...

It's not the end of the world. Still manageable numbers for hospitals.

But I'd expect to hear cities/counties start to reconsider some options soon.

As always... take care...
One more thing...

DEATHS

We are now in a place where we are averaging 4-5 deaths per day.

That's up from 2-3 a month or so ago, but well below where we were in April (when it was 30+) Image

WEDNESDAY #COVID19Colorado update

Headline: "Pay attention to the trends. The trends are critical."

HOSPITALIZATIONS
(COVID+ only)

Today: 317 (up 27 from yesterday)
Last week: 244

(this is not great news folks. BIG ...increase today... relatively speaking)

#9news Image
Again... (and I can't stress this enough)

it's not where we are now that's the most concerning... 317 patients is VERY manageable

But look at the trend... it continues to go up.

this is making people who will make decisions on restrictions nervous...

whether u like it or not
POSITIVITY

(Again... look at the trend in the red line... not skyrocketing... but still going up)

Today: 4.47 (*7 day average)

(3 day average is 5.33%) Image

TUESDAY #COVID19Colorado data update

Headline: "Can't sugarcoat this. The time to start paying attention to the numbers is now"

HOSPITALIZATIONS
(COVID+ ONLY)

Today: 290 (+2 from yesterday)
Last week: 246

(is rate of growth slowing? At least for one day? Yes)

#9news Image
(as will be customary on COVID updates... if I follow u, you can comment... DM me for a follow request)

(sorry... it's necessary right now)
Ideally, this would be the start of a turn to slower increase...

but you know what I say about one-day's-worth of data... it's not terribly insightful

but, at least for now, we can hope. Image

Says we are seeing "an alarming trend"

#9news
says state has officially gotten above 5% in positivity.
As will be the case in COVID updates... I am limiting comments to those I follow.

If you want me to follow... request via DM...

thanks.

I wanna walk you through a big shift that's coming to the world of the drug #Remdesivir

@AnushaRoy9News will have more on this on @nexton9news today

In the meantime, let's talk about the drug. CO hospitals have, for weeks, been using supplies given to them by US govt
Basically, in a fairly large study, the drug shortened recovery time for #COVID19 by four days.

Colorado hospitals started receiving the drug in relatively large numbers back in May

statnews.com/2020/06/29/gil…
In June, the state reported more distribution.

Here's what the hospitals got:

Today: 244 (down 4 from yesterday)
Last week: 178

#9news
POSITIVITY:

That's a bit concerning I am certain .
