McGrath seems to be doing well and hitting some solid notes in her debate against McConnell.

This statement really hits home:

McGrath: “You’ve been hearing it all night long - more excuses. He’s not just a member of the Senate; he’s the Majority *Leader.* And he still can’t get it done.”

Like Lindsey Graham and nearly every other Republican, McConnell needs to paint his opponent as part of a vaguely evil liberal conspiracy.

McConnell is doing his best to make his smug chortle-laugh come across as dismissive, but he looks a little flustered.

Here is the full context of the clip where McConnell says she’s a Marine and a mom and he’s been there too long.

In the clips I’ve seen of the debate so far, McGrath did well, but she does let McConnell get under her skin, which is exactly what he wants.

Each time McConnell’s failure to address the pandemic is brought up, he seems to be dismissive by laughing off the criticism.

I don’t think these laughs are going to come across to voters the way that McConnell wants them to.
@kelsientaggart supercut:

Wow. McGrath talks about the need to hold the Pharma industry accountable, and says that McConnell is incapable of doing that, because he takes more money from big Pharma than anyone.

She says that he’s bought off.

He doesn’t even respond.

@senatemajldr Mitch McConnell is very clever with words.

He puts on the “I am but a simple statesman trying to do my job,” pretense while in reality, he is personally responsible for obstructing everything the American people need.

Then he blames others for the result
@senatemajldr Mitch McConnell pushed hard to use pandemic funding as a way to undermine Social Security.

Why? Because that is the agenda of his wealthy donors.
@senatemajldr McConnell blocked dozens of Obama’s judges from ever having confirmation hearings, leaving empty seats on the bench.

Then, he let his wealthy benefactors put their own judges in place when Trump took office.

This is what packing the court actually looks like.

Barry County Sheriff Dar Leaf, A Michigan sheriff opposed to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s stay-at-home order, told a crowd of about 350 that the governor’s quarantine measures are akin to mass arrest of the state’s residents.

mlive.com/news/grand-rap…
Sounds like he is on the air tonight, and doesn’t have much bad to say about the homegrown terrorists who wanted to kidnap Governor Whitmer and essentially try to stage a coup over the MI government.
Could Dar Leaf be one of the sheriffs/law enforcement personnel that the Michigan AG said had attended fundraisers with the “milita” terrorists/extremists?

Trump just backed out of negotiating a Coronavirus stimulus bill.

This looks like an election strategy - but it won't help him win.

What he's really doing here is giving McConnell & the GOP an ex post facto excuse (political cover) for prioritizing ACB's SCOTUS confirmation.
Just yesterday, a poll was released that showed Americans overwhelmingly wanted the Senate to prioritize passing a Covid relief bill, *before* considering a new Supreme Court nomination - by a whopping 74% to 26%.

thehill.com/hilltv/what-am…
So the real question then, is this:

Why is Trump acceding to the GOP's priorities over his own by making such a wildly unpopular move?

*Nothing* is more important to the GOP now than ACB.

I'm sure they are allowing him to believe she can help him in the election.

Now that the @nytimes has exposed the deep financial trouble that Donald Trump is in, can we revisit all those times he has used *our* Presidency to funnel money into his failing properties?
Trump’s Turnberry property showed losses for four straight years.
Remember the shady deal he made to lease our USPS building to build his hotel in D.C.?

Of course, after he got it, he welshed on the parts that he agreed to.
