Trump has no interest in actually governing. He never had any interest in governing. He just wants an audience so he can play a "winner" on TV. He thought, like any starring role, playing a World Leader would be a great way to get rich.
I suspect his "fans" (the ones who go to rallies) want to be entertained. Politics is boring. They don't understand it or have the patience for it.

Trump tells them they're the elite, and would be at the top of the hierarchy if the 'others' weren't taking what belongs to them.
The explanation is that Trump is incapable of doing anything other than what he is doing. He can't plan. He can't govern. He can't alter his behavior. He can't care whether people die of COVID.

He does the Trump act.
The Trump act worked because
🔹he is being shielded by a major political party, and
🔹the right-wing has built a powerful propaganda machine.
I was thinking about this.

The Republicans have made "politician" and "political" dirty words, the way they made "liberal" a bad thing.

Politics literally means associated with the governance of a country. Liberal means open-minded.
I remember the first time I heard "liberal" used as a smear. I think it was the 1988 Bush-Dukakis debate, but it could have been earlier. I was shocked.

I also remember the first time I heard a Republican use "politician" as a smear. He was talking about Bill Clinton.
He resented—and I mean hated—the way that Clinton compromised, brought people together, and projected empathy. In a snide voice, he said, "He's a good politician." I understood he meant, "He's a good liar."

He assumed that Bill Clinton's empathy was fake.
It's that cynical "all politicians are liars," thing. He couldn't believe that Bill Clinton is actually an empathetic person.

For America to heal, we have to teach all citizens to value public service.

Eventually, I hope we can reclaim as a good thing the word "politics."
If all politicians are liars and cheats, the winner is the one who lies and cheats the best.

If all politicians are liars, politics becomes tribal.

"He's a liar, but he's OUR liar. Biden is the enemy liar."
It occurred to me that the reason the Republicans are having trouble running against Biden is they can't make "corrupt" or "liar" stick to him.

The whole point of Operation Ukraine Shakedown was to paint the Bidens as corrupt.

They tried "senile" but "senile" is different. . .
A person can stand up in a debate and easily prove he isn't senile.

Proving you're not a liar isn't easily done, particularly when your opponents are shameless liars.
Campaigning (which Trump views as a performance opportunity) is the part he likes.

Trying to solve problems? Not for him (or his fans). Boooring. 🙄

🔹Biden's lead has expanded to more than 10 points in the polling aggregate.
🔹COVID cases are spiking.
🔹The New York Times has released information about Trump money laundering and tax fraud.

The Trump team has a plan . . . another disinformation campaign 🙄🤦‍♂️
It's all they know how to do.
It can be effective the first time.

Putin launched the same kind of disinformation campaign against Ukraine in 2014 that he launched against the US in 2016.

Ukrainians rolled their eyes.
Americans fell for it. . .
Ukrainians knew what they were dealing with. Americans didn't.

The Mueller Report and the impeachment hearing educated Americans about these tactics.

Now we know.

Trump doesn't know how to govern, or plan, or solve problems. But he's really good at disinformation campaigns.

Heavy turnout on the morning of early voting in Georgia.
(Go, Georgia📣 )

Also, Georgia voters have requested absentee ballots in record numbers.

h/t @VinkemesMom

There were a few glitches getting started this morning, but the voters are determined.
Fabulous. I'll be in the GA voter protection boiler room 9 shifts during early voting, and all day on Nov. 3.
There are still volunteer jobs if anyone else wants to help protect voting rights in GA.

(some can be done remotely)

Trump has written the final act of the 2020 Campaign Realty Show, and the central plot point is: “This election was a shambles! A disaster!”

Let's not play.

I've tweeted some of this post as individual tweets, so won't do this one as a Twitter thread.
If Trump loses, will you all still follow me after January 21 💕?

I'm about to sign a contract to write a book on the history of the second amendment. Dull appellate lawyer nerds might lose all their appeal 🤓
And the correct answer is ⤵️

The 25th Amendment cannot stop the election. At this point, I think they're stuck on the Trump Train.
Removing Trump (and most likely elevating Pence) would create massive chaos in the GOP, and some chaos with electors.

My guess is that it would cost them more votes than they'd gain.
If those kinds of considerations motivated the GOP, Trump would have been removed a long time ago.
He won't start a war. He may be a puddle by November 4, but we'll get through this.

Sen. Mike Lee comes right out and says that the GOP is opposed to democracy.

By "democracy" @SenMikeLee means all people have a say in government.

By "peace" he means order.

By "liberty" he means the freedom of [white] men to grab whatever they want.

1/
Ziblatt and Levitsky, in ⤵️ say:

"It is difficult to find examples of societies in which shrinking ethnic majorities gave up their dominant status without a fight."

The GOP, which has become the party of white grievance, is desperate. Their demographics are shrinking.

There are a few directions I can take this thread.

I can tell you how California paved the way, or I can back up and talk about how the GOP longs for the days when [white] men could cheat and grab.

On the frontier, they could grab land.
They could grab women.

Does anyone else feel the ground shifting?

It's because of all those people lined up at the polls standing 6 feet apart wearing masks, and because we know how most of them are voting.

I already voted. It felt great. Do you have your voting plan?
I won't blitz you all with this blog post as a thread.

In a nutshell: Trump is losing, so we can expect a firehose of lies and chaos.

terikanefield-blog.com/trumplosingrai…
I agree. People are starting to treat him like the madman screaming in the attic.
