The Senator that Biden spoke of affectionately during this story he told today?

It's noted segregationist James Eastland

Eastland is one of the two segregationist senators Biden praised last year for their "civility"
Here's Biden telling the story in 2012, where he names Eastland
Biden spoke more positively today about a segregationist than he did about a majority of the American people

Kamala Harris eviscerated Biden last year for invoking Eastland

"To coddle the reputations of segregationists... [is] misinformed and wrong"

Harris said Eastland "made and built [his] reputation on segregation."
Even Biden's own advisors admitted he shouldn't invoke Eastland

That Moody's report Biden keeps citing to say his economic plan is better? Not really worth the paper it's printed on

The same economist - Mark Zandi - estimated Trump's plans in 2016

Every prediction was wildly off on economic growth, unemployment, jobs, and the stock market ImageImageImage
Zandi's projections for job growth by mid-2019 if Trump was elected, compared to where we were in mid-2016:

▶️1.7 million
▶️-1.9 million
▶️3.1 million

The actual number?

More than 6 million jobs, double Zandi's ***best*** scenario ImageImageImage
Zandi predicted higher unemployment under Trump under every scenario

In reality, it hit a half-century low ImageImage

Thread:

Unsurprisingly, Joe Biden again is lying about the the Trump Administration's record on funding law enforcement

Here are the facts...
Federal aid to state and local law enforcement fell during the Obama-Biden Administration

Meanwhile, funding has gone up under the Trump Administration

The "cut" that Biden claims President Trump is trying to implement?

It's a proposal to move the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) program to a different part of the Justice Department

DOJ specifically said this would "centralize and strengthen" aid to state & local LE

1/3 Joe Biden grossly overstating death tolls: a short thread

Yesterday Joe Biden claimed 120 million Americans had died from the Coronavirus, a number that was off by a mere 119.88 million
2/3

In February, Biden claimed that "150 million" Americans had been murdered with a gun since 2007, a number that was off by a factor of 1,000, or roughly 149.85 million
3/3

In 2014, Biden pegged the death toll from the 2011 Joplin, Missouri tornado at 161,000

This was more of an approximate figure, given that he was off by 160,839

This is nonsense and an insult to the men and women at the CDC, HHS, and other public health agencies who have been working on coronavirus since early January

The CDC set up its incident management system for coronavirus on Jan 7
This was before the first death was even reported out of China, and during a period when the Chinese were still claiming there was "no evidence" the virus could spread between humans

nytimes.com/2020/01/10/wor…
To put this in perspective, when the CDC started responding to the coronavirus outbreak, the House still had not sent articles of impeachment to the Senate...and wouldn't for another week
