The end of history: an illusion that seeped implicitly into reality. Many felt smart concluding there was really nothing more worth doing. Value and status converged on them as they (and “we”) felt somehow they were doing the last things. Value, and then agency, evaporated below.
“Tech” comes along. Denies this. No! Many new vistas, even unimaginable ones! History forever! Yet *some* feel themselves becoming the smartest of all time by concluding there’s nothing left to do but end history by ending humanity. An eerie imitation..
Due to the pre-digital end of history, the oppressive feeling of the unfolding digital end of humanity is becoming implicitly accepted as an inexorable logic. “We forgot how to stop this, stopped caring. We have no value and no agency.” The feeling now reaches even upper classes
This attaq on our value and agency feels explicit in one sense—that explicit-ness is felt now to overpower everything, even in the immensity of the “noise” so many of its “signal” mongers become. Its quantity becomes a conquering quality pervading our lived environment
The gut punch: our once-dominant class of communicators, the fantasists, have now abandoned the implicit, wherein humanity generatively, joyously abides. Panicked at the disenchantment of their “magic” they have become cultic religionists, infinitely explicating recondite dogma
The race against the clock of annihilating disenchantment and the evacuation of the value and agency of the great mass of humanity is a race to reassert and recapture the potency of the implicit in human life for which no type of explication can ever substitute.
Ruling image and imagination to rule the word, ruling the discourse to rule the world, these have passed away amid the irreversible digital invasion. But re-grounding in the implicit will have to happen through tech as well as culture, body, and soul. Few grasp this. Momentous!
