An entire book could and should be written about this. The ongoing implosion of fantasy as the basis of identity is making people deeply neurotic, awkward, embattled, and ill, and we don’t even talk about it, much less dare to process it

The whole psychic complex of imagineering as selfhood is toast. People are mistakenly scrambling to internalize fantasies extreme or ultimate enough to ride out the disenchantment. “The universe” isn’t going to save you. “Staying in your magic” won’t stop your disintegration
The rise to dominance of identity rooted in biography and memory instead of fantasy and imagination is inexorable: it’s already crippling people caught out knowing they have in effect no family history, no inheritance of remembrance, and were gifted no training to found one anew
This mass psychic calamity demands a very specific kind of overhaul and renaissance in education—one our institutions are so many light years away from affording we have to think seriously on those grounds alone of just crossing ourselves and walking away from them
Getting over the wall before the reckoning hits is all well and good, but many zombies on the other side will be your friends and family and loved ones, and it will haunt you you to recognize them out in the blasted crowd moaning and decomposing and eating those left behind.
Meanwhile the panic stricken elite still clinging to pre-digital power structures broadcasts out vast recondite coping propaganda under the banner of compulsory “ethics”—noncompilant “deserters and looters” will be shot. However well meaning this is now hostile to human life
Reality based human vitality means accepting that dreamland is over—that we must maintain and defend our flesh and blood identities amid the alien invasion of often incorporeal robots who record and recollect all things more powerfully than anything we can make-believe. //
