[Thread] Whenever there is any discussion about #AIIMS i always see Congressis talking about crediting Nehru and almost never mention Rajkumari Amrit Kaur who was the Health Min of India from 1947-57. She was the real force behind AIIMS and also introduced the AIIMS Act in '56.
Rajkumari Amrit Kaur as Health Min. led the fight against Malaria, was even behind the BCG vaccination and donated her residence at Shimla, Manorville, to AIIMS as a space meant for the relaxation and recreation of the doctors and nurses of the institute. indianexpress.com/article/resear…
“It is important to note that though a devout Christian, she was very much against missionary activities,” says Siddhant Das, great grand nephew of Amrit Kaur “She was a zealous patriot who believed that missionaries were alienating Indians from their cultural roots,” he explains
When she was a member of the Constituent assembly she even supported an idea of the Uniform Civil Code. How many of you have ever heard Congress talking about Rajkumari Amrit Kaur, she is the person who deserves the real credit for #AIIMS. But she rarely gets mentioned.
This reluctance of Congress to credit anyone except the Nehru Gandhi family is what has caused their downfall. From what we've seen, they dont want to change. Supported by pliant journalists & durbari historians who justify everything, the Congress party will never change [End]

The survey that you extensively quote @dhume, is at odds with your own piece. You say in the piece that the major states with IA's (NY, NJ, Texas, CA) have already been decided (which i agree with) and the real battle is for IA votes in some swing states. (1/n)
The survey that you quoted @dhume, still talks to> 400 people in those states. The total sample size is only 936. Given that in those 4 states, majority of IA's vote for democrats, isn't this heavily tilted towards dems and not focusing as much on IA's in the swing states? (2/n)
Establishment surveys forget one big thing, surveying IA's in CA, NY, NJ, TX doesn't give an accurate picture of what is happening in swing states. 60% of the IA's might still vote for Dems, but if 70% of them come from those 4 states how is it representative? @dhume (3/n)
