Ahead of Baby River’s burial, supporters and the media have started arriving outside La Funeraria Rey in Pandacan, Manila. Management of funeral home has not yet allowed anyone to go inside saying they will limit access to 30 people.

Marites Asis, mother of Reina Mae Nasino, asks for privacy. Instead of mass at 9:30 at the funeral home, baby River’s remains will be blessed at Sto. Niño church at 10:30am. No word yet if 10am presscon will push thru.

KAPATID asks BJMP, police to respect Reina Mae Nasino’s last 3 hrs with baby River and allow her to grieve in peace.

Karapatan places blame on Duterte govt for River’s death — from arrest of mother Reina Mae based on “bogus search warrant” and “planted evidence” to courts “refusing to listen to pleas of grieving mother” to jail officials who “sought to reduce her furlough.”

BAYAN SecGen Renato Reyes, Jr says death of baby River is an indictment of PH justice system, flagrant double standards. Says lower courts, Supreme Court ignored plea for Nasino’s release on humanitarian grounds. Also notes her wake visit in handcuffs.

Reyes: Reina Nasino is a symbol of what is terribly wrong with the Philippine justice system and the government of Rodrigo Duterte... The courts also failed to protect the rights of the arrested activists and political prisoners.

Reyes: Baby River was casualty of the regime's fascist war against its critics and the Philippines' broken justice system. We are indignant. We are outraged. We join the Nasino family in seeking justice, for Baby River, for Reina and for all political prisoners.
