Starting a long-term thread on questions that need answers. Perhaps when media has free time after covering Kangana Ranaut, they could tackle these:

1. WHY is it that no other Asian economy has cratered like ours?
2. HOW did our neighbours manage a far lower Covid death rate?

3. WHY is it that India's richest have increased their wealth dramatically (35%) during a time of devastation that has seen GDP contracting & hundreds millions thrown into poverty? What does it imply in terms of wealth concentration, monopolies/oligopolies & creation of jobs?

4. WHY is India the only democracy in the world where ruling party politicians have made it a practice to come on to the streets to protect and defend rapist-murderers and to
terrorize the families of their victims - from Kathua to Unnao to Hathras?

5. HOW come we have enough money (Rs 20,000 crore) to spend on the grand vanity project in Lutyens' Delhi called Central Vista, but not enough money to improve our ranking in the Global Hunger Index (94 out of 107) or to patrol and protect our territory from foreign aggressors?

6. HOW come in India, a govt that came to power on an anti-corruption plank legalized unlimited, secret donations to political parties through Electoral Bonds, while elsewhere in the world, reform MEANS transparency? Here, see who funds whom in the US:

7. WHAT is the relationship between the fact that thousands of crores in secret donations flow into ruling party coffers and the fact that about 100 Opposition legislators in states have resigned their seats without explanation in recent years, to the benefit of the ruling party?

8. When non-farm employment is growing fast, it would make sense to plan for less headcount in the farming sector. But WHY would anyone try and push people off farms precisely when employment in other sectors is falling or stagnant (partly due to emerging monopolies/oligopolies)?

9.WHY can't we name China as the aggressor? What will happen if we did? Should we let internal, political worries of the govt determine our external response? How can we reverse the incursion without calling it what it is?
